Why Zone Polyphenols?
We understand that getting adequate polyphenols from fruits and vegetables is difficult. That’s why supplementation with Zone Polyphenols provides the extra anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory support, especially when combined with omega-3 fatty acids.* By using higher levels of the delphinidin-rich purified extract from maqui berries found in our MaquiRx and PolyphenolRx Plus, you are also getting anti-aging properties you can feel and see.*
Which Zone Polyphenols are right for you?
What are Polyphenols?
Polyphenols are the chemicals that give vegetables and fruits their colors. They also represent the plant’s primary defense mechanism against invading bacteria and other parasites. Their intake is important in controlling the bacteria composition of our digestive system as well activating anti-inflammatory and anti-aging genes.*
How many Polyphenols do you need?
It depends on your goal. From an anti-oxidant potential you need to ingest a minimum of 500 mg of polyphenols per day. Unfortunately, to reach that level requires approximately 10 servings of normally consumed fruits and vegetables per day. To obtain the anti-inflammatory benefits of polyphenols, you will need to consume approximately 1000 mg of polyphenols per day. That’s equivalent to consuming 12 glasses of red wine per day. You can see to reach those levels will usually require supplementation with purified polyphenol extracts. Finally, to obtain the anti-aging benefits of polyphenols requires approximately 1500 mg of polyphenols per day.
Are all Polyphenols the same?
No. There are about 8,000 known polyphenols. All have some anti-oxidative properties, but relatively few are anti-inflammatory, and even fewer have anti-aging benefits. Furthermore, you need highly purified polyphenol extracts like those used in Zone Polyphenols to get the full potential of their anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
Why are Zone Polyphenols different than others on the market?
To get the full potential of the anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties of polyphenols, you have to use highly purified extracts. They are more expensive than typical dry fruit and vegetable powders because of the extra processing, but without such purification to enhance the concentration of the polyphenols, you are unlikely to see any of their potential benefits.
Why are Delphinidins "the Best of the Best"?
Delphinidins are the polyphenols that are common to both red wine and blueberries. Delphinidins have a unique structure that allows them to provide unique water solubility so that they can enter the bloodstream at much higher levels than other polyphenols. This is important since the more polyphenols that enter the bloodstream, the greater your longevity. The richest source of delphinidins is the maqui berry found only in the Patagonian region of Chile. One capsule of MaquiRx contains the highly purified polyphenol extract of the maqui berry and has the same amount of delphinidins (75 mg) as found in 50 glasses of red wine or 1/3 pound of blueberries, but without the alcohol or the sugar.
