By Dave Schreck:
The celebration is over. Now it is the time for reflection, resolutions and perhaps a personal revolution. You’ve said it before: I’m going to become a whole new person this year. I’m going to improve my physical well being, lose weight, reduce stress, exercise, eat healthy foods, get rid of bad habits, laugh more, and enjoy life. Unfortunately, less than 8 percent of us succeed. Why? Because of how we use our mind, what we think, our beliefs.
“Change is too difficult. I’ve tried and failed before. It’s my genetics.”
Where did your beliefs come from? It might be study, personal experience, rational thought, expert opinion, advertising from food giants, big Pharma or the media. Maybe your beliefs were implanted by parents, culture, religion, and education systems; or maybe you have been programmed to believe you are powerless by physicians and those in authority. “If you believe you can, or if you believe you can’t … you’re right.” (Bruce Lipton, Ph.D, “The Biology of Belief.”) Did you know when evaluating new drugs, pharmaceutical companies perform double- and triple-blind randomized studies in an effort to avoid the power of the mind?
Some beliefs become a self-fulfilling prophecy: As I grow older, something will happen to my body: Weight gain, chronic diseases, medications, and suffering. How can we expect something different to show up in our lives if we always have the same thoughts and perform the same actions on a daily basis? There are documented cases of ordinary individuals (like you and me) who have reversed chronic diseases, cancer, arthritis, heart disease, and others who have died after being misdiagnosed with a fatal illness. We need to learn and reorganize our thinking to enhance our ability to experience a healthier future. How?
That’s where the revolution comes in, and it’s easier than you think. There’s no need to join a protest march. Just sit down and educate yourself. Ten years ago I watched a film called “What the Bleep Do We Know?” The basic theme was how we create our own reality with consciousness and quantum physics, the study of how thoughts affect our behavior. The most referenced interview was from Dr. Joe Dispensa, D.C., (a leading authority on the interconnectedness of the brain, mind and body) and his comments on creating his day.
From the movie:
I Create My Day
“I wake up in the morning, and I consciously create my day the way I want it to happen. Now, sometimes, because my mind is examining all the things that I need to get done, it takes me a little bit to settle down and get to the point of where I’m actually intentionally creating my day. But here’s the thing.
“When I create my day, and out of nowhere, little things happen that are so unexplainable, I know that they are the process or the result of my creation. And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net in my brain, that I accept that that’s possible. Gives me the power and the incentive to do it the next day.”
How do you create your day? Find a few minutes at a time and place where you won’t be disturbed, sit with your spine straight and begin to follow your breath Just let go and relax. Now imagine the positive events you’d like to occur in your day, using all of your senses. See the event, feel the emotions of your outcome and hear the comments. How does this work? Research has demonstrated the subjective mind (how you experience things … your feeling and opinions) has an effect on the external world. Basically, what you think affects your reality. Therefore, by changing your mind, you can change your life.
You must go beyond the belief that your future is controlled by your genes, that you’re hardwired for failure. Know that you are adaptable and flexible allowing you to produce the behaviors you want. You can create a healthier future by learning how change is possible.
You have probably asked yourself, is it possible for me to change, do I deserve the chance for a healthier, happier future? You’ve made the effort to improve your health by following the Zone program. Now learn to reorganize your thinking, preparing both your mind and body for a better future. Begin a revolution in the way you think and discover the information and the tools to rewire your mind and body.
Learn how to achieve your potential. May 2015 be a year of transformation and miracles!
