Breakfast is important because…

Eating breakfast is important. It improves concentration, problem-solving ability, mental performance, memory, and mood.  After fasting for hours during sleep your ability to control blood sugar levels is at its lowest point.

To Balance Blood Sugar You Must…

The ideal breakfast should contain at least 25 grams of protein balanced with low glycemic load carbohydrates to promote appetite suppression for the next five hours.

Very good tasting. I’ve sprinkled it on top of my yogurt and berries for added crunch and protien, making it a more satisfying and tastey meal.

It is Zone friendly and so convenient when you are looking for a quick satisfying breakfast. Only 40 grams but with a cup of milk you aren’t hungry for the next four hours. (I follow Barry Sear’s lead and use lactose free low fat milk) Great with a few strawberries and blue berries. So simple. Yum!

1/2 cup seemed small but it was plenty! Loved the taste.

I have eaten the Zone Diet for breakfast for over ten years. Low sugar, and high protein. Plus, it taste good. What more can you ask.

I appreciate the ingredients but the taste is less than yummy.

I have bias against cereals it reminds me of cardboard.
Zone cereal is first I like. It has excellent taste especially with blueberries, strawberries and yogurt. It also keeps me satisfied for several hours.

With life being so fast paced it’s great to know I can have a bowl of this cereal even when time is short. Knowing that I am starting my day in the Zone helps set my mind at ease and the taste is delicious. I really feel satisfied until the lunch hour.

It’s very tasty, but each box contains 2 servings max. Unfortunately, it is not easy on my sensitive stomach.

    • Dr. Sears

Trini – It is correct that there is less in the box than traditional cereal, because Zone cereal is balanced with protein, carbs, and fat. Traditional cereals have excessive amounts of carbs. Example: Kellogg’s Mini Wheats = 46g. of carb per serving vs. Zone Cereal = 16g + more protein than the Mini Wheats. Consuming more carbs increases blood sugars and insulin levels.

Try this: Follow the serving size on our cereal served w/ 2% milk and make note the time. You should receive at least 3 hours of good mental focus, physical energy and no hunger. If not, let us know. You might be surprised!

By following the guidelines of the Zone Diet, you can restrict calories without hunger or fatigue. Now you can balance calories to stabilize blood sugar levels and simultaneously increase the release of satiety hormones from the gut that tell the brain to stop eating.

This cereal is the best! Delicious treat and very filling. *Perfect* with blueberries, my favorite way to have this. Since I seem to be sensitive to grains ( too much will make me retain fluid) I limit myself to having this as a treat only once or twice a week, tops. Great low glycemic index as well. All pros and no cons to this.

I love this cereal since it lets me grab my “morning blocks” and get out the door quick. I eat a 4 block breakfast so I add 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries and 1 cup of non-fat milk to 3/4 cup of this cereal. Perfect zone breakfast and it tastes good too! Thanks for your research Dr. Sears.

The best there is for fiber and satiety. Eat a handful and skip a meal and still keep your blood chemistry in the zone. This is the best thing.. in the midst of the large manufacturers of cereal deciding to go back to the heavy sugar and less protein products.. Just goes to show that after dozens of years of the government telling us to eat lots of cereal…high glycemic carbohydrates for good health… they left out two words.. bad and obese.
So it should read… eat lots of cereal and develop bad health and become obese.
Go for it America and suffer diabetes and obesity… The government is always right….LOL
