EicoRx starts with the same great, ultra-pure omega-3 EPA/DHA concentrate used in OmegaRx with the addition of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). In the right amount, GLA helps to enhance the body’s innate anti-inflammatory responses while also helping to slow the aging process. EicoRx has patented natural agents from sesame concentrates that help inhibit the production of arachadonic acid (AA) as well as adding anti-oxidant capacity to protect the EPA and DHA from oxidation.
For most people taking either OmegaRx or EicoRx on a daily basis is perfect. Some of our customers subjectively optimize the use of the two products. Here's an explanation: GLA converts to DGLA (dihomo-gamma linolenic acid) which is the building block of "good" anti-inflammatory eicosanoid hormones. However, it is also the building block of Arachadonic Acid which converts to "bad" pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. The key to getting the most our of your fish oil Is find the right balance of GLA to maximize the production of anti-Inflammatory eicosanoids before there is "spillover" and your body begins to also produce excess Arachadonic Acid. Getting the optimal balance of AA and DGLA has been at the core of Dr. Sears’ research to optimize the balance of “good” and “bad” eicosanoids. Dr. Sears was aware of this more than 25 years ago. The simple solution was to add more of the omega-6 fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA) to the fish oil, which in turn would generate more DGLA. It turns out this was a lot more complicated than it first appeared because not everyone is genetically the same. Depending on your genetics, even trace amounts of GLA could be rapidly metabolized into AA. Eventually Dr. Sears found the answer in toasted sesame oil concentrates that contain a specific inhibitor that prevents added GLA from increasing AA levels. This is the key to all of our patented EPA/DHA concentrates. Using the right levels of GLA combined with EPA/DHA concentrates containing toasted sesame oil concentrates, the ability to optimally regulate “good” and “bad” eicosanoids is finally available.
Everyone is different, and that's why some of our customers have found their own personal ratio of daily consumption of OmegaRx (no GLA added) and EicoRx (moderate GLA). You could consider using the Eicosanoid Status Report found on DrSears.com to discover your own ratio of daily consumption of OmegaRx and EicoRx. Most EicoRx users don't do this, but It Is something to consider if you are looking to subjectively fine tune your use of Zone Labs' fish oil. |
