Ribose is a carbohydrate used by the cells to help maintain adequate levels of AMP that can be converted into ATP by AMP kinase. It is only ATP that can be used as an energy source for muscle contraction. Athletic performance depends on regulating the inflammation caused by intense exercise as well as helping to replenish internal nutrient stores. How well you perform is ultimately based on following the Zone Wellness Pyramid to optimize hormonal responses required for peak athletic performance.

  1. Zone Diet
    Athletes require a constant controlled supply of protein to help repair the damage caused by intense exercise. Low-fat protein should be eaten in small doses throughout the day balanced by adequate levels of low-glycemic carbohydrates to boost glycogen synthesis. There are three phases of Zone nutrient timing: (1) the demand phase prior and during exercise, (2) the recovery phase that lasts up two hours after intense exercise, and (3) the regeneration phase that lasts until the next exercise period.
  2. Ultra-Refined EPA/DHA Concentrates
    8 capsules per day. Ultra-Refined EPA/DHA Concentrates regulate silent inflammation caused by intense exercise. Athletes should take up to 8 capsules of OmegaRx per day to reduce production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. Then after 30 days, some of the OmegaRx capsules can be slowly replaced by EicoRx or EicoPro to help up-regulate even more powerful anti-inflammatory hormones. EicoPro is suggested for elite and professional athletes and EicoRx for serious recreational athletes.
  3. SeaHealth Plus
    2 tablespoons (30 ml). The polyphenols in SeaHealth Plus stimulate the enzyme AMP kinase that directs incoming nutrients toward regeneration of ATP levels in the muscle cells. AthletePro is a formulation containing a combination of creatine and ribose. Creatine provides the additional storage capacity for high energy phosphates that can quickly replenish ATP production. Ribose also provides the building block for new ATP production.9 The body will first replenish ATP levels with incoming nutrients before any storage of those nutrients into muscle glycogen or muscle synthesis. The faster you replenish ATP levels, the more rapid the restoration of muscle glycogen stores, and the better you perform.
