Hello all,
I am new to this board but based on what I have seen so far I think I'm gonna enjoy being here!!!!
My problem is that I am vegetarian (I eat some dairy products) but I am still about 30 pounds overweight. I've been a vegetarian for 13 years and I must admit, I've always been a very carb-heavy eater. I'm just relatively new to all the Zone ideas and it sounds like they might help out, but can anyone else tell me from a similar expereince (vegetarian and always eating carb-heavy) if this has worked for you???? What can I expect?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions. :D |

Hi,
I was eating vegetarian, with too many carbs, when I began the Zone. It's worked well for me. I experienced an increase in energy, an abrupt end to my hypoglycemic symptoms, and permanent stored fat loss (about 100 lbs).
I'm no longer vegetarian because my drs have advised me not to eat more than occcasional very small amounts of soy and dairy products (long story which has to do with the way I metabolize calcium in my diet). With the elimination of soy and dairy from my diet I felt it was too difficult to get a variety of good quality vegetarian protein.[/color:1ad5587097] |

Hi Kalsemo,
I'm Attilio from Italy and i'm a vegan.
Being Italian, i was a big pasta, bread and pizza eater and in recent period i was overweighted.
Not a lot, i was always around 133-140 lbs; at the beginning of this year i was 161 lbs.
Now, after 6 months of zone, i'm a little more than 128 lbs.
I never ate pasta, bread and pizza anymore in this period.
What i can say?
The vegan zone worked wonderfully on me.
Ciao.
Attilio.[/color:1f6f475ee2] |

Thank you both, Sue and Attilio, I appreciate your responses. Hopefully the Zone will work where everything else has failed. Right now I weigh 180 and I would like to be about 150. But hearing about your weight losses gives me some inspiration.... wow, being Italian and not eating pasta, bread or pizza.... was that hard? are you still doing this?? |

Yeah Kalsemo,
It was weird to me too at the beginning; i ate tons of pasta.
But when i decide a thing, i do it, even completely changing what i did until that moment.
It's not hard to me, i like the fact i can eat a lot of vegetables and fruits instead of few grams of pasta.
I'll follow this vegan zone for all my life.
Ciao.

Kalsemo, I was a vegan and then a vegetarian before I started the Zone.I thought if I was vegetarian, this was enough. My weight has been yo-yoing for several years now. I became vegan and then vegetarian two and a half years ago, and although I initially lost some weight and felt better when I stopped eating meat, I gained back the weight. I was 183 pounds in the beginning of March of this year, and about size 14 (american). The Zone has been a godsend for me. I'm still a vegetarian, although I do eat dairy, eggs and fish, so I don't know what you'd call that :-) I eat so much healthier now than when I was just a veggie, because I relied almost completely on carbs, most of them unfavorable. I was constantly tired and had almost zero energy, it was horrible. Now, it's almost five months later; I'm about 161 pounds and size 8-10. My energy is back, I'm healthier, I feel great, I exercise. I still have some way to go, but I have no doubt that I will get there with the Zone and I don't intend to change this new way of life. The thing with the Zone is, it's not a fad diet but a permanent life change, and if you accept it as such, you will be very successful, I'm sure! |

Hi...my name is Heather and I am brand new to this diet program. I am going through a very difficult time in my life right now (divorce after 14 years of marriage to a verbally and emotionally abusive loser) and have put on some unwanted pounds. Anyway, now that I am on my own, I want to make some positive changes and get on top of this weight issue. I've been vegetarian off and on since my late teen years (am 35 now). My biggest problem is that I LOVE sweets and cannot control my desire for them. If there are cookies or candy in my house, then look out! They will not be there for very long! I'm excited about what I have learned thus far about the Zone plan and think it makes a lot more sense than some of the other diets and fads I have learned about. If anyone has any tips or would like to share their experiences with me, I'd appreciate it very much. |
