Hi I have been following the following the zone diet and i think it is great. I am not sure why i see posts here questioning this diet for bodybuiding as i know of many Pro bodybuilders who follow this diet or something very close to it. I would like to purchase one of the ZONE books to read up on somethings and was wondering which one would be the best book geared towards athletes this looks like a great board and i hope to learn alot while I'm here.

TIm actually MOST bodybuilders follow a 40/30/30 diet to bulk. if your eating 5,000 k a day you can still eat in that ratio. Grain type carbs need to controlled by supplementing with additional fiber. its too unrealistic to eat all fruit and veggies when bulking but they should still be in there and grain carbs insulin response can be controlled with other supplements. but getting ready for contest. I know of quite a few elite bodybuilders (top ranked amatuers and alos IFBB pros) who diet using fruit/ and vegetables as their Carb source and they get ripped to the bone. you don't need to follow the EXACT ZONE diet. but the concepts are a staple of many bodybuilders.

Conan - Just out of curiosity - these bodybuilders following the zone - do you think they just choose their calories they want to eat and make their ratios within that? (as in, amount of protein they want, just eat corresponding amounts of carbs/fats....or say they want 2000cal, just do the 40/30/30 to get what that would equate....)
