Did anyone see the recent "Ask Dr Sears" question titled "fish oil and MS"? The question mentions using fish oil to treat HPV. I was recently diagnosed with this, and Dr Sears' answer seems to indicate that to help fight off the virus, 10g fish oil/day should be taken. I am currently taking the 2.5g maintenance dose. Is anyone trying to use fish oil to help control HPV, and is this the dose you are taking? How long do you maintain this dose? Is there anything different I need to do if I plan on increasing to 10g per day? More vitamin E, etc?

I'm also interested what can be done about it. A balanced diet, polyphenols and fish oil is the basis, anything else? Are there any specific meds to take? Like minerals or vitamins to boost immune system?

There are more than 30 types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a small percentage may be linked to increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and increased odds of developing some forms of cancer.
To help enhance one’s immune system following an anti-inflammatory diet (the Zone) and supplementing with high dose fish oil may be helpful. The combination of the Zone Diet and taking fish oil increases the production of "good" eicosanoids that have a profound anti-viral/anti-inflammatory effect. Controlling cellular inflammation may also reduce the risk factors associated with all chronic conditions including CVD and cancer.
The best way to determine one’s optimal omega 3 dosage is the AA/EPA test (http://drsears.com/ArticlePreview/t...ault.aspx) The test will be available through Zone Diagnostics (www.zonediagnostics.com) within the next 4-6 weeks. Information will be posted ASAP.

LOL its a miracle--after 8 years, and this person's original question is finally answered!

I am sure I was around here in 2005 posting on the old-old-old message boards, and would occasionally check for unanswered questions, but I don't ever recall this one being posted.

Sarah (if you are still around here and reading posts), hope you are doing well--and hopefully have successfully treated HPV!!

Luca I hope that was helpful to you, as well.
