Hello. I'm new here. Just as an introduction, I've been eating Zone style since Iwas a child back in the 1950's, (I'm 55), long before anyone knew what eicasanoids (sp?) even were. It worked then, works well now, even without getting down and counting blocks (you get used to visually knowing amounts). I've been working with weights and various aerobic type programs for well over 40 years. However, my priorities have changed at my older age. I now work out more for strength endurance, and keeping my major functional parts (posterior chain in particular) working well. My question is this: Has anyone here tried the WOD (workout of the day) over at Crossfit.com ? It looks terribly interesting. They combine just about everything from long distance running/rowing to all out limit strength combined with the Zone diet. Just curious to what your experiences have been. Thanks Tim

I use "my" WOD, basicly Crossfits with minor changes... you can use weights or your bodyweight ex. *5 pullups + 10 pullups + 15 squats (different ways to do it: non-stop, 1 minute rest etc) *high-intensity sprints x yards ( 1:3 ratio work:rest ) *x handstand pushups + rowing machine x calories let me know if you want to know more!!

ps you get sore as hell the first two weeks - but the body gets used to it if you do it "every" day and you feel better...

Love them both. Here's the story as short as possible. Played high-school baseball and football and college football and lacrosse. I'm 34 and have done most workout regimes under the sun (variety of weight programs, yoga, navy seal workouts, ultra distance, etc.) After college I started doing 24 hour mounatin bike races and multi-day adventure races. In 2004-2005 I thought I was in the best shape of my life. Did one 36 hr. adventure race that my team and I did not finish. Finished in the top 10 in a 24 hour mountain bike race. Finished in the top 10 % of a 100 mile mountain bike race in Oklahoma and finished first in a 51k snowshoe race. I had a 31 inch waist and weighed in at 158-160. I lacked the core and functionality that you'll discover in Crossfit. Anyway, my reward for the 18 month racing season was a 6 month slide enjoying food and Blue Moon Ale. Hitting a 38 inch waist and 186 pounds. Started Crossfit WOD's on January 3rd and added the Zone on February 13th. As of today I'm 172 and waist is an even 32. I feel better than I ever felt when I was "in shape". Also, using just body weight exercises and occassional weights in Crossfit, I am as strong as I was playing football in college. Good luck. The Crossfit workouts are simply the best I've seen in 20 years of active sports and working out.

I follow the WOD as often as possible as well as implementing the Crossfit methodolgy in my everyday training (outside of the WOD). It is, by far, the more complete fitness method I've ever seen. If you're interested in becoming as fit as possible along as many different possible pathways, then this is the way to do it!
