[color=darkred:4abdc27717]Hi,
There's been recent discussion in this forum about lack of results, so I though I'd share the strength training program I've been doing recently. It's a program by Wini Linguvic, a personal trainer in NYC with 20 some years experience in the field. The program can be found in her latest book "Long, Lean & Strong". It's designed specifically for women, and is based on sets of synergystic moves combining weights, pilates, yoga, and stretching. You can do it either at home or at the gym. The only equipment needed is a mat, towel, dumbells, and an exercise ball. Because each basic exercise targets multiple areas, one spends only 10 to 15 min a day 4 days a week. The focus is on a different area each day. You can choose to do an overall program or you can add to that a focus on core, upper body, or lower body. The presentation is thorough and precise, including pictures of correct form for every move, yet simple and easy to understand. I've been doing strength training and using an exercise ball for years prior to trying this program, yet I felt a difference with the first day of this.
The book program also includes regular aerobic training in the form of a basic walk program. I haven't done the walkign portion, because I do other forms of aerobics 6 days a week.
There's also the expected chapter on nutrition. The eating recomendations loosely resemble the Zone, although I haven't taken the time to read that chapter thoroughly.
I highly recommend this book and program to both beginners and to those women who already do strength training.[/color:4abdc27717] |
