Hi!, I am relatively new to the zone, only started 2 weeks ago and am experiencing the differences in energy levels and mental focus, but have not lost any weight yet. I read "Mastering the Zone" and I seem to remember something about eating your protein first before your carbohydrates. I have not been following that strictly, so what I am wondering is if that would have any effect on weight loss, eventhough it does not seem like a big factor to me????? Thanks for your help I need some motivation to keep going right now! L.

Suggexted order, if possible or desired is: Fats, Protein, then favorable Carbs. Fats first, helps towards "feeling of fullness".

As mentioned above, look at your rations of fats to carbs to proteins. If these are OK, here are a few other considerations: 1. Are you getting any GLA? (either steel cut oats or primrose oil). Borage oil is "loaded" with GLA. However, too much of this leads into the "spillover affect" and actually increases AA. 2. Consider a quality fish oil product. Decent levels of EPA and DHA add fuel to the fire and can help things along. Patience is the key to the Zone. It may be one of the only programs that doesn't promise "fast" weight loss. But is probably offers the best balance of loss when it comes to fat loss.
