[color=darkred:924a5564a3]You can have caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee and tea, but use the caffeinated ones in moderation, because caffeine can result in the stimulation of insulin.
Canned food would be measured the same as fresh. See the "cooked" carb list for veggies, and assume about 1/2 cup canned fruit to a carb block (without added sugar, canned in water or fruit juice). Try to purchase sardines canned in water. If you can't find them, then use the ones in olive oil and drain off the excess oil. A little extra fat will not hinder your Zone efforts (see FAQs about fat on this site).
No, you don't have to give up Vitamin C. (But I would consider trying to give up smoking! :) )
It's fine to continue taking soy lecithin, brewer's yeast and small amounts of wheat germ.
