What bars are the best that I can get at my local grocery store, Target, Walmart, etc.. I bought the Atkins bars (Target) and Nature Valley Protein Bars (Costco). Atkins bars are expensive. NV Protein, are kinda high in fat. Just want to buy something that will get me through my mid morning and mid afternoon snack. Thanks!!

Why go to the store. You can order direct from this web-site. Do you know about Auto-ship?

Auto-ship is a system that automatically ships exactly what you need and want; at a regular interval that you determine. Your Fish-Oil, Bars and Shakes...in fact everything we offer is available on Auto-ship.

Most importantly- "Auto-ship" gets you a 20% discount off retail. How great is that.. and here is the best part that a lot of people do not realize. If you have 1 itme on Auto-ship.....that 20% discount applies to all our products... even items you only order 1 time. As long as you have 1 product on Auto-ship.. we give you that 20% discount

Call one of our CSR (Customer Service Representative) @ 800-404-8171 and they will be more than happy to help.

Dr Sears Bars are made with our Controlled Release Nutrition™ technology to stabilize blood sugar and conserve calories throughout the day, helping you to burn stored body fat as your primary fuel source instead of storing incoming calories as fat. The Zone allows you to stay fuller on fewer calories, and Zone Bars are a great way to eat when you don't have time to prepare a meal or snack.

    Benefits of Nutrition Bars:
Curbs hunger for up to three hours.
Controlled Release Nutrition helps you stay sharp mentally and physically.
Zone Nutrition Bars contain the same amount of protein as a four-egg white omelet.

Techie, A good reason to go to the store is so that one can immediately purchase a bar, as opposed to ordering/waiting for a shipment to come in. I would personally be more likely to use Zone-approved bars if they were more readily available. I used to buy those Hershey SmartZone bars when they were available, they were delicious and easy to find. Very economical. Wish they were still around!

Steve, I can't answer your question, except to tell you that the Zone-approved bars are only available online. They are not sold in stores.

No, I am not missing the point (but I thought perhaps YOU were LOL)

Each of us is a bit different. Yes, I agree that for some people the autoship feature works very well. But, for me, I don't really use bars all that much--I try to use whole foods with little processing for my snacks. It is nice to have a bar to fall back on when the need emerges, but that is not an every-day occurrence. Ordering a supply of bars and having them on autoship would not help someone like me, because I would end up with an overabundance of bars, being shipped regularly.

On the other hand, if the bars were available in the store, it would be easy to just stop in and purchase a bar, maybe 2 or 3, and then just keep them on hand for life's emergencies, as they come about.

Steve really didn't mention why he would rather buy in the store rather than online, he just wanted to know which one was best to purchase in the store--which of course can't be answered here...

    Tech;
I am in-line with Cran on this. I would not want a constant supply; but on occasion,
as a need might arise, be able to purchase a few bars for a need/event a day or two before I need them.
Not always being able to plan way ahead for an order, or do not need to have 15 bars on hand just-in-case ...
SO, some times, we have to make do with not as good products available from local stores.
In other cases, like my annual business trip every Feb/March - I can plan ahead, and order 1 box for the week.
Which, I did and now have a few left for a just-in-case.
BUT, when those are gone, if I have a box of 15 just sitting there, I will eat spme of them, just because they are there, convenient,.
Though whole, raw, real food is much better and also available.
So, that brings me back to, going to a local store and picking up 2,3, or 4 bars - ...
The previous available Hershey Smart Bars - made in conjunction w/ Dr. Sears, were a viable alternative...

LOL--I prefer to ride my bike and get some great exercise while pursuing an item like that! Makes the trip even more worthwhile!

Techie, it really comes down to this: I know there are some people who prefer to get everything shipped to them, while others like to have the freedom to choose when and how many to purchase when going to the store. The point is that if Zone Labs wants to make a profit, they should increase the availability of their products. My guess is that the products that are currently sold are only sold to those who really "buy-in" to the Zone Lifestyle. If the products were available in retail stores, there would be the potential to reach a population that has never had exposure to the Zone. Then, because of how superior the bars are in taste and functionality, people will see the website on the packaging, perhaps be more interested in purchasing a book, other products, etc. Just my opinion...

Cran, I have to agree with you. I go to a little store, in Marblehead, MA, to purchase the Zone products that they carry (the only store I know of in my area that carries Zone products). I like the fact that I can get what I want and not have to pay shipping! I would love it if I could just pick them up in the Whole Foods Market in Swampscott or any other local store!
Just a side note: It is snowing, sleeting, raining and thundering outside my house!

Thanks for the support, Paula! Sorry you are experiencing some bad weather over there... our winter seems to not want to end (although I do enjoy the winter season, personally). That is really cool that there is a store in your area that carries Zone products! Wish something like that were available in my area!

Techie, thank you for finding value in my suggestions regarding those business suggestions. Please keep us all informed as to the progress of retailing the Zone products, as there appears to be others who are on board with the idea! CHEERS!

    OOPS!

Looks like techie's post has disappeared....which makes my post look kind of odd.

Actually, I have quite a few acquaintances that bike throughout the winter (I personally do not). Many of my "biker buddies" use older bikes with the fatter tires (like a mountain bike), which creates improved traction. I hear that they bike year round in Alaska, as well (although I do not know of anyone personally up there).

I dusted my bike off a few weeks ago and fixed a flat tire, then took a bike ride on a nice late-winter day, the temp was 38 degrees but little wind. The roads were clear at the time. In the cold, I wear mittens and a winter vest, and sometimes wear wind-breaker pants--I don't like to get overheated, but sometimes the wind goes right through the clothing. Oh, and I guess I had forgotten to refill my water bottle, and the water that was left over from the previous day had frozen--so no water for my ride LOL. When the weather gets to be over 40 degrees, I will probably start riding more frequently. Actually, it is not the cold weather that stops me from riding--I would ride in colder weather (just not in blizzards). It is the shortness of the days and lack of daylight hours after I am done with work, that prevents me from riding. I don't like riding in the dark.
As a kid, I delivered newspapers and rode in snow all the time while doing my paper route on my 3 speed Schwinn with the wire baskets on the back. AHHH, those were the days...
