    Hi,

A friend just asked me if I knew anything about Omega 7. I never heard of it before. Does anyone know about it and its health benefits? Does Dr Sears recommend it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi John,

Apparentley Dr Oz is raving about it as a breakthrough. I'll google it and try and figure what it is all about.

    Thanks,
    Donna

    Dr. OZ might be popular.
And I believe that he is mostly sincere in trying to help folks.
However, I've only seen him a few times, and some times I question what he or his guests might advocate, at times.
Just as with this mostly unheard of Omega-7 and as with everything, you are wise to research, first.

    from wikipedia: Omega-7 fatty acid
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Omega-7 fatty acids are a class of unsaturated fatty acids in which the site of unsaturation is seven carbon atoms from the end of the carbon chain. The two most common omega-7 fatty acids in nature are palmitoleic acid and vaccenic acid.[1]
Rich sources include macadamia nut oil and sea buckthorn oil.[citation needed]
The monounsaturated omega-7 fatty acids have the general chemical structure CH3-(CH2)5-CH=CH-(CH2)n-CO2H.
    .
It also appears that Dr. OZ promotes the higher amounts as a weight maintenance product, I'd be skeptical!

Thank you John for looking into it.
My friend asked me about it. I'm just going to tell her I don't know anything about it.

I don't follow Dr Oz but a lot of people I know do.

The “new” good fat has amazing powers! Dr OZ endorsement are always impressive “start taking another odd omega, purified Omega 7.”

Best line from OZ... • • Supports healthy cholesterol levels within an already normal range (what does that mean?)

Interestingly, following an anti-inflammatory diet, like the Zone, and supplementing with a high quality omega 3 offers the same benefits and more.

Omega 7’s are non-essential fatty acids (not essential to our survival) that are beneficial to our health.

Bottom line: whatever diet or supplementation you’re on measure your future wellness with the AA/EPA test.

P.S. From what I've seen, Macadamia nuts are one food naturally higher in Omega-7.
