I am somewhat new to the Zone Diet. I have tried doing the Zone hear and their but never really stuck to it. I am hoping this time will make a difference!

In October of 2011 my aunt was diagnosed as having diabetes. Her doctor had wanted her to lose some weight, and she possibly would not have to be on any medications for the dibetes and it would be controlled thru her diet. Well, she did not know where to begin. I had told her about the Zone Diet and figured out her blocks, etc. and gave her a meal plan to follow. I am so proud of my aunt, she has currently lost 80 lbs since she was diagnosed, and she does not have to be on any meds for the diabetes. WOW!

Now, if I was able to help her and she accomplished a HUGE goal! What is my problem??? I do workout regularly, and I try to eat properly as much as possible. However, I do not have a thyroid, or a spleen (which has a lot to do with metabolism). I have had non-hodgkins lymphoma over 27 years ago, and had extensive radiation treatments etc. I do not have the cancer any more, but have the drawbacks to the treatments I received to cure me. My general practioner, endocrinologist, and heart specialist all want me to lose about 60 pounds. I am 5'1 and 189 pounds. UGH! and boy do I feel those pounds!

I am hoping with support from the people in this forum will help me accomplish my goal of becoming healthy and fit! I plan on using this forum to post my progress as I go thru my journey!

    My blocks are 3 - 3 - 1 - 3 - 1.

Nan, that's great news about you aunt!

The Zone has been great for me. 18 years ago I weighed 10 pounds more. I lost it and have kept it off with the Zone. My tip, for the best result be sure to start out with all three important parts of the Zone . That's the Zone Diet, Omega RX fish oil and polyphenols. I'll be happy to help if you have questions. I'm a cancer survivor too. Congrats to you!

Question. On the recipies on from the website, I noticed quite a few that will say 4 block meal. What do I need to do to make that meal within 3 blocks?
do I just reduce the portion size a bit? For example, if the meal is 4 block and has four servings, do I make each serving a little smaller and have say 5 serving
portions to make it 3 blocks a serving?

    Thanks

Nan, an easy way to do it is to eat 3/4 of the meal and save the rest for a a block snack. Another way is to use only 3/4 the amount of each ingredient, and the result will be a 3 block meal.

Thank you. That helps me out a lot, and makes it easy to come up with a 1 block snack. :D

Well, made it thru yesterday! WHEW! Was a little rough in the afternoon, I was HUNGRY! I had a snack of a few almonds and peanuts, and 1/2 apple. I tried to
come up with a 1 block snack with what I had access to while at work.

Does anyone know how to beat those afternoon cravings? or will they eventually go away?

I am determined to stay on track!

nan, the best way to eat at work i have always found is to prepare my lunch/snack ahead of time
my favorite snack that keeps me in the zone and satisfied is 2 egg whites sliced open with hummus.

it looks like your snack above was missing the protein.. string cheese does well or rolled turkey/ham deli meat

The weights given for meats are pre-cooked.
