Dave Schreck is not a scientist. He is very well read and knowledgable regarding the Zone.

Hi all of you,

New info I came across.

Whey IS mainly GMO with this exception that I know of: New Zealand's government does not allow milk to be genetically modified (GMO). New Zealand government says, "To date, no fresh produce (fruit, vegetables, meat or milk) originating in New Zealand is genetically modified." (Soy, corn, is GMO in New Zealand, though. FYI.)

The above quote is from the New Zealand government's website: http://www.mfe.govt.nz/publications...age3.html. Obviously, this could change, but for now ...

So the whey protein concentrate I bought--which is "from cattle raised without the use of hormones, including rBGH," is not genetically modified and therefore won't cause the usual problems that GMO foods cause. Oh, and the whey is from cattle in New Zealand, where they are grass-fed, or pastured, supposedly.

Apparently most whey in general is GMO because most cattle are fed corn or soy. This from my research tonight.

But the brand I bought recently, here in Canada, is whey from cattle grass-fed in New Zealand, and therefore presumably good for me.

So for those of you who are concerned about eating GMO foods, this is FYI ... in other words, if you can find a whey protein concentrate that is from New Zealand, then you'd be ok.

My brand claims it screens for 250 different contaminants/pesticides/etc and therefore is very clean too. But companies say all kinds of things as you know ... so I'm gonna follow up anyway.

I'd love to hear any other info from anyone of you as well ... I love sharing information!

Disclaimer: this is to the best of my knowledge. I have no idea, obviously, whether farmers are secretly feeding their cattle corn or soy, but, it's illegal ...

I sound so cheery in the post below, LOL. "presumably ..." "secretly feeding ..." etc.

But, we do need to stay alert, marketing being what marketing is ... and governments aren't always telling the truth either!
