Determine the number of blocks of P, C and F blocks you put in the entire recipe and divide by three to determine how many 3-block meals is makes or divide by four for 4-block meals. If you make a recipe containing 12 P, 12, C and 12 F in the entire recipe, this will yield three 4-block meals or four 3-block meals. If you have a recipe containing 12 P, 8 P and 12 F, you have three 4-block meals of 3P, 2C 3 F each. Add a bowl of berries to this scenario and you'll have 4 Zone balanced 3-block meals. |

Typo, I left part of the sentence out in the last post. It should read: If you make a recipe containing 12 P, 12, C and 12 F in the entire recipe, this will yield three 4-block meals of 4P, around 2 C and 4F or or four 3-block meals of 3P, 2C 3F each. You'd add the berries for balance whether you divided that last scenario into either 3 block or 4 block meals.

Robyn, I usually figure out the total # of blocks for the recipe, then I divide it up into servings to figure out the blocks per serving. |

1 block (serving) of Protein contains 7 grams protein. Typically 1 ounce of meat. 1 block (serving) of carbs is 9 grams. For each block of Protein you balance with a block of carbs and some fat. For each serving of Protein you eat 3 grams (2 Fat blocks) of healthy fat. Fat blocks are doubled, because 1 fat block is 1/2 serving of Fat to allow for the fat in lo-fat protein sources. IF, your protein is fat-free, then you double the fat intake to 2 fat blocks or 3 grams fat. |
