If you're in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic states check out "Simply Enjoy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce" at your local Stop & Shop or Giant. One half cup contains 4g Fat, 4g Carbohydrate and 2g Fiber. The ingredients are "imported Italian tomatoes, pure olive oil, fresh onions, fresh basil, sea salt, fresh garlic, ground black pepper, and oregano. It's a favorite at our house, and it's on sale this week. |

Good to know. We never shop at Stop & Shop - too expensive, overall. We do shop at Market Basket, Sam's Club, and Trader Joe's. Interesting, there is a Stop & Shop across from the Market Basket we go to, and its parking lot is never more than half filled, often less, while Market Basket, is always full or nearly full. . Our local newspaper does a typical family of four shopping basket comparison at the four major supermarkets in our city, twice per year. And Market Basket is always consistently lower. The only thing is that Market Basket is the only one of the four that does not carry produce from local farmers. . By-the-way, Sue, last Spring you told me that you saw an article in your local CT paper that stated that MA HQ'd Shaws was closing down all stores other than those in MA. I remember, because some of the employees (forget which union) were on strike for Shaw's at the time. Well, all of the Shaw's in NH are still open? What about CT, did your stores close or remain open?

We don't have Market Basket here; actually I've never heard of it. Take a look in your Stop and Shop sometime. Lots of good Zone stuff in there. :) Shaw's stored all closed in CT a couple of years ago. If you go to their web site you'll see now they're only in MA, ME, NH,VT and RI. You can also google Shaw's CT and read about the sale of all 18 Shaw's CT stores. |

Picked up 5 jars: Roasted Garlic Pepper (2), Tomato Basil (2), Marinara (1). The sodium is high, though - at 400 mg. BUT, with the sale price, cheaper than the smaller jars of the basic sauce at Trader Joe's we usually get. and in a larger size jar. So like getting 3x the value. Thanks for the tip. .
