I believe what you are referring to was part of the Zone Foods that are no longer produced. I would suggest that you grab a copy of Dr Sears's book "A Week in the Zone" . http://shop.zonediet.com/product/de...l/407.aspx The book is a tremendous deal. It cost $ 6.29 and will guide you with recipes, ingredidents and menu"s for a week. It also has all basic information regarding eating in the Zone. I suggest you use it for two weeks mixing up the recipes on the 2nd week. Most find themselves on cruise control after that. For a complete understanding I feel " Mastering the Zone" is a great book. This book is available on this site for $ 17.50. " A Week in the Zone" is included within this book. There is a ton of information and recipes that can be found within this website. Click on "Tools". Lastly, I would say; you have great support on this blog. You will find many individuals here who have been eating in the Zone for years and understand that it is not a "Diet" but a way of life. It is more about balancing your food so that your body functions optimally . |

Hi all, I am relatively new too. I've tried the Zone on and off, but want to stick to it now. Does anybody know where I can find an updated block chart - where it shows the weight of the product for 1 block in grams? Thanks a lot.

Good point, Mira... I think that there ARE some corrections on that list, which have been pointed out in these forums in the past. For one, 1 cup of cooked carrots are now considered FAVORABLE carb (as of the printing of the Anti-Inflammation Zone). |

Agree, the Zone would be more user-friendly adding weight-based measurements for those who measure that way (and those who just want to verify that those cups are not overfilled) |

Hello everyone, as for the cups, I have a brand new set of American mesures cups. Do they mesure all the same? I mean I have a full cup, half a cup, 1/4 and 1/3 cups; are they standard? Mira, I have a lit of blocks in grams. If you need I can help |

YES, American (USA) cup measures are standard. 3 teaspoons (tsp) to 1 tablespoon (Tbl). 1 Tbl is 1/2 ounce by volume, not weight. 2 Tbl to 1/8 cup, 1 ounce by volume, not weight. 4 Tbl to 1/4 cup, 2 ounces by volume, not weight. 2 cups to a pint, 8 ounces by volume, not weight. 4 cups to a quart, 32 ounces by volume, not weight. 2 pints to a quart, 32 ounces by volume, not weight. 2 quarts to 1/2 USA gallon, 64 ounces by volume, not weight. 4 quarts to 1 USA gallon, 128 ounces by volume, not weight. |

P.S> You will also see measurements, at times, for dry measures, in some recipes, as: 1 scant cup - just under the rim. 1 level cup, as it implies. 1 full cup, mounded, overflowing the rim. . If there is no qualifier such as scant, level, full - then it is a full or true cup measure. |

Regarding the food block guide that is posted on this site (link provided by techie), there are also corrections to be made here. For one, carrots are STILL listed as high density, or unfavorable. And, it has also been pointed out that the measure for spaghetti squash is incorrect, it should be listed as 1 cup per block rather than 2 cups per block. I |

The ANTI-INFLAMMATION ZONE says 1 cup of sliced cooked carrots per zone block. We have discussed in past threads that carrots have a similar glycemic load as a block of Apple. |

hello betty, my husband was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes this past summer, and i am very happy to report that he is doing wonderfully on the zone!! his doctor was NOT supportive of him following the zone, as she felt the medication would be more effective. just to recap, my husband (mark) bloodwork was 415... and within 3-4 weeks on the zone--his bloodwork was under 100 (94), also there were a few days that he cheated , and his bloodwork showed a rise on those days..
