Alexy, an excellent way to find answers to questions like his is to search DrSears.com (in toolbar at top of this page). Here are some things I just found with a search. They will provide some answers to your questions:

1 Impact of Zone Diet on GERD - Relevance: 1007
Q: I have acquired an increasing incidence of GERD. Looking back, the symptoms seem to have started and escalated around four years ago when I first started on the Zone. Now, the GERD seems to act up a few times a year and lasts longer and longer. This time I can't shake it. Not only do I have more acid reflux, but it seems that my lower esophageal sphincter (LES) no longer shuts tightly as it should. Could this be related to my much higher protein intake since I started on the Zone? If yes, what is it doing to my LES and how do I correct this? THANKS. The Zone has profoundly improved my life. A: GERD is a consequence of overproduction of acid in the stomach. What I suggest is taking about 2.5 grams of EPA and DHA per day coupled with about 2 mg. of GLA. The small amounts of GLA can be metabolized into the eicosanoid PGE 1 that will inhibit the acid secretion in the stomach. The combination of the Zone Diet and the extra EPA should minimize the conversion of the added GLA into arachidonic acid (i.e. toxic fat).

2 Following the Zone with hiatal hernia - Relevance: 1004
Q: My 60-year-old mother follows the Zone Diet and suffers from hiatal hernia. Her medical doctor tells her to eat smaller meals to control its effects. Following the Zone, she eats every five hours. How can she eat smaller meals on the Zone? Every 2 1/2 hours? A: Dear Mark, Any time an internal body part pushes into an area where it doesn't belong, it's called a hernia. The hiatus is the junction of the between the esophagus and the stomach. The end result is GERD, commonly known as heart burn. Eating smaller meals in more frequent intervals significantly improves insulin control and will decrease the GERD. She should have the same number of blocks per day but split into whatever eating intervals work best for her.

    3 Fish oil contraindications - Relevance: 1002
Q: Can someone with Hx of GERD and gastroparesis take fish oil? Is there any other supplement that this person may benefit from? This person also has fibromyalgia and is overweight. A: All the conditions that you mention are caused by inflammation. Therefore following an anti-inflammatory diet, like the Zone Diet, coupled with taking about 5 grams of EPA and DHA per day would an excellent way to begin reducing the underlying inflammation.

Hi SUE, THANks for this. Thanks also for searching for me. I appreciate it.

I actually searched the website myself before I posted the question. I recognize two of the posts above from my own search. But the third one about eating smaller meals more often is helpful. (It is also what you recommended for hunger in general.)

I can't find my copy of Toxic Fat and I was trying to get the latest recommendations, which do change over time. And I couldn't find them, so I asked here ...

It seems that the FO dosage varies, but the minimum is 2.5 and the most common is 5 grams, so I'm good to go ... I expect to increase to 10 grams in general for everything.

Is there a way to have an updated list of recommended fish oil dosages online? So I don't have to try to figure it out myself?

The dosing info in Toxic Fat is the most updated I'm aware of. Maybe you can get it at the library, or better yet, put a copy on your mobile device, tablet or e-reader. I have a copy of Toxic Fat on my Kindle. The basic maintenance dose is 2.5g daily (4 capsules or 1 tsp.). 5g (8 capsules or 2 tsp) is for people beginning a diet or who are overweight, 7.5 g (12 capsules or 3 tsp) is for people with chronic pain, and 10g and over (16 capsules or 4 tsp, and over) is for people with neurological conditions. Then there's my crazy small dose of 1 capsule every third day. :)

Fish oil dosing recommendations are published in the book "Toxic Fat" by Barry Sears, on page 113 and also on page 277.

Fish oil may be beneficial for your infant because it works to counteract the inflammation that contributes to symptoms of acid reflux, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Talk with your child's doctor before giving her fish oil.

Fish oil is better than flax seed oil or any other oil.
It is more beneficial for health and fitness, you can use it for burning your extra body fat and keeping your heart health. It controls the cholesterol level and and prevents from cardiovascular diseases. It also very effective for removing the muscles and joint pain.
