%$%#@!)#!!! I was hunger-free for, like, 2 weeks or more, actually. I felt great. I'm very carb sensitive. Then my period ended basically. Yesterday and today I've been really hungry, and the same meals that used to work for me, stopped working for me. I did kinda go off the zone at one point--went too long without a meal, ate a zoned meal but probably not fully the 2 blocks of carbs I needed. then the next day (where I was hungry) I forgot to add a snack, so I had 10 blocks for the day. That was yesterday. Today I ate 3 meals thus far, and am having a snack because I've been hungry most of the day. I do not know what to do. The temptation to eat the wrong foods becomes huge because I'm starving and want to fill up. Instead I start eating more snacks, etc. I have had this experience in the past. And the odd thing is, my hunger phrase shifts across my cycle (you know, that time of the month). So the hunger phrase can be BEFORE my period starts. Or it can be DURING. Or, as right now, AFTER. (more often, it's BEFORE my period starts.) So. Help! What was working so beautifully and perfectly for me has stopped working and I do not know what to do! Sarah/Alexy |

The info you gave explains why you feel hungry. What to do is stick with Zone balanced meals and snacks. Smaller meals and snacks spread throughout the day may prevent excess snacking for now by allowing you to eat more frequently. If you'd like to post some of your meals and snacks I'll be happy to see if I have any ideas about changes that might help you.

Ok, so it's not related to my period ending? Glad to hear! I can't believe that small things like going too long without a meal caused hunger for TWO days. Can it really, Sue??? Does that happen for you? Anyway. Snack was pollock (a nearly fat-free fish), olive oil (way too much!!!), one cup of Asparagus (= one block), and a piece of raw cabbage for the fiber. I will post more over the next 12 hours of eating ... It's weird, because, I was up most of the night frequently, yet able to stick to 11 blocks, at times going into 12 blocks when I get hungry because, well, I'm up most of the night, right? So that changes things. I think I went to 13 or 14 blocks as necessary, depending on hunger. But now I'm sleeping much better, and I go too long or skip a snack by mistake, and I'm starving! I do not understand that. But, HEY!! At least I'm actually able to sleep ... that's a HUGE change, huge progress. Sarah

Another thought, I think I remember you mentioned in another thread that you recently started steroids. If that is.true, it could explain your situation. If so, your insulin levels are elevating and eicosanoid balance out of whack. No fault of your own. It will take more strict adherence, and avoidance of those foods which will just make it worse. |

Alexy, I didn't say it's not related to that. I meant all the info you just posted put together cAn explain your hunger. If you're taking steroids that could also be a likely factor. Other drugs can also interfere with satiety. Regardless, the best thing to do is eat a strict Zone diet and continue to follow the plan you decide on for your Omega Rx supplementation. |

Thanks, Cranberrycat and Sue ... Be in touch with the meals. Am shortening the time between meals, so smaller meals, etc., as sue suggested. Alexy |
