I used to use soy in my diet exclusively. I ended up loosing my period for ten years and it never returned. I am 34 and nt in pre-menopause. It never returned. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I have read on line others who have experienced the same effects. |

Well ... I had a test this morning, a NAET test. It says I am allergic to soy. And when I was eating a lot of TVP (soy) years and years ago, as part of the zone diet, one day I started bleeding (that month-of-the-time bleeding) uncontrollably and had to go on birth control for 3 months. I never understood why, but I suspected a link to the TVP I was eating (the cheapest kind of soy I could get at the bulk store) and quit the TVP. I do like soy a LOT, I was eating tacos from "hamburger crumbles." But I'm taking soy out of my diet. No wheat, no dairy, no soy! Sarah/Alexy (will create a signature later on ... ) |

I am suffering from something called uterine fibroids. Strange growths in the uterus, not very uncommon. But they make "that time"... very complicated. If I say I constantly have bad anemia I think you get the idea. One of the fibroids is apparently the size of a grapefruit (it doesn't show though, luckily!) and I really ought to have open surgery to take them out. I had a different type of surgery to get rid of them, which does not involve opening up the uterus. But it failed and they are still there. When I researched this a bit after having recieved the diagnosis, there seemed to be consensus that Soy milk messes with hormone levels and can cause fibroids to grow. I've been allergic to milk for the better part of my life, and therefore drunk an awful lot of soy milk.... I immediately stopped and switched to rice milk and oat milk. I can't say that I KNOW that soy milk caused my problem, but there is a good chance that it did. I'd also say that for men, they may want to be careful with drinking milk that introduces female hormones in their body. All this can be googled, I haven't bothered for a while, but if you are interested there is plenty of information out there. |

I really enjoy almond milk, too. That would be my milk of choice if I could not have dairy. |

Nope, I don't watch Glee, and not drinking milk hasn't negatively affected my bones. |

LOL! I am proud to say that most time when someone asks me if I watch a certain TV show, usually the answer is "NO". |

I watch TV, but musicals are not my thing. I think it goes back to when I was a kid. My grandmother lived with us and had to watch Ed Sullivan even Sunday night, when we wanted to watch disney. Unfortunately she owned the TV... lol

Bringing back memories! I recall both Disney and earlier both "Sea Hunt" and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"! Except those few nights when we were at my GrandParents, and my GranDad watched his programs. Funny story, he got one of those new fangled TV's with a "Remote Control" later time period, TV had actually had color by then. I was around 12? I think??? Anyway he started getting mad at the TV because the TV kept changing channels! And he could not figure out why, and he couldn't yell at his grandkids, because he had and controlled the remote. It was driving him nuts! . After a few days of this, some how, we finally figured out it was one of our belt buckles! (There three of us, myself, and my two brothers.) Apparently, the frequency made by the metal on metal of one of our belt buckles was the same as the frequency of the TV remote control for changing the channel up. (or down, can't recall which). . I am guessing that - that was not an uncommon occurrence, as it was not soon after that TV remotes went to infrared instead of sound frequency.

Geez, Maureen, that's enough to make me wanna eat nothing BUT soy!!! High soy consumption is supposed to effect your period, but not like that. What tpes of soy did you eat? Soy Protien isolates, tofu, edamame? I am trying to get much more s.p.i. in my diet, but only one brand of imitation meat has it high enough, and their prices are stupidly high...higher than many meats. |
