So angry with myself! I had promised never deliberately eating food with sugar in it ever again.

And it was not hard to keep the promise while my feet were swollen like an elephant from acute arthiritis and I was coughing from Sarcoidosis which caused me to start with the Zone.

But now I have recovered and feeling much better.
Still on the last leg of a cortisone course but no sign of damage to my lungs (the big risk with Sarcoidosis).

It was boiling hot today, I had 0 energy for various reasons (have a cold, TOM from hell and the residue of the sarkoidosis)

    and........... I ate icecream!
I bought the oat based icecream 0.5 litre....... like a binge/craving.

This does not bide well for the future.

How what to do when you are out of the zone and disgusted with yourself?

Hannah, don't be too hard on yourself. Try to move on form it and not dwell in it. You made the choice to eat the ice cream, and you can move on from that choice.

Hannah, don't be so hard on yourself. I have learned through my own personal experience that I do better when I forgive myself for making mistakes, either known or unknown.

Confession time, last week I was extremely late in eating my lunch (due to a longer waiting time to get into the urgent care clinic for my dog bite), and on our way home we passed a local drive in. My DH was also very hungry and was going to get a deep fried fish dinner. Since we were going to be grilling out for dinner, I suggested that we just get some ice cream instead of eating a fried dinner. So, we both ended up with small sundaes! Small enough not to do too much damage, but was enough to get us through to dinner. Zoned? NOT! But, it was fine. We jumped right back in with our next meal, in which we grilled some salmon as well as roasted some asparagus in foil over the grill, and also had a marinated cucumber/tomato salad.

HI, just to follow on from this question (im pretty new to zone) if you do mess up with a meal or between a meal do you make up for it in blocks in the next meal or just carry on back to square one next meal? i was up all night with two spewing young children (yay new years eve for me!) and about 4am i started feeling a bit queasy (which i tend to do when im hungry plus ive been waking up starving about 4am since starting the zone)... so i ate what i could grab between holding back hair/pukes and it was *cringe* two slices of white bread with butter. do i allow for the carbs in my breakie or just draw line in sand and carry on? thanks for your help!

Just balance your next meal. Do not make up for lost elements in the next meal, that would throw that meal out-of-balance, too.
So, regardless of your planned, intentional, or unplanned accidental non-balanced meal, the next meal should be balanced,
regardless of how the previous meal was off.
The whole concept of the Zone is blood sugar balance, and each meal Zoned does just that.
