I just looked up almonds.

One cup of almonds has Total Omega-6 fatty acids17477mg.

Yikes.

I am quitting almonds for ... I don't know, coconut flakes I guess. When I'm binging I mean. I do binge once or twice a week ... and when I binge, I eat, like, a cup of almond ground easily in a day!

Good thing I checked it out! But I wish I checked sooner ...

I DO have nut butters that are far lower in 6s, sooo ...

And there ARE teas I love to drink, too ...

Sarah, don't forget about the AA your body produces. Binging weekly, even if it's binging on favorable foods, is going to result in an elevation in insulin levels and increased inflammation.

I think you said you eat the ground up almonds. http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts...cts/3085/2 shows 11,462 omega 6 for a cup and a cup of the ground weighs less than a cup of the whole nuts. It must be the air.

Anyway, maybe you can get Sue to help you with why you binge. It's probably causes by being out of the Zone and she might have some ideas from reading your food journal as to why you are going OOZ.

Yes, almond grounds. Yikes. Thanks for letting me know.

I don't binge because I'm OOZ, actually--I binge because I have big childhood trauma. So the binging isn't physiologically caused by the wrong kind of foods or by being OOZ.

When I'm OOZ I crave refined carbs. When I'm binging due to traumatic issues I eat fats, nuts, etc.

I'm healing from the trauma though, it's a journey, and I'm grateful to be healing and my life is getting better and better ...

Hi Sue, thanks for your information, too. It is obvious I need to shift to drinking teas instead when I want to binge. Way more tea! LOL

Yes, as Larry mentioned, I'll be happy to take a look at your food diary if you'd like to post it.

I do go OOZ.

Just, binging on nuts is not the same as binging on refined carbs ... different reasons, different physiological reactions ...

Here are two healthy (and I think also tasty teas):
(Red) Rooibos tea
Tulsi tea

Hi John,

Thanks, I've recorded them in my to-do list ... but doesn't rooibos tea have caffeine?

I just googled rooibos tea and it is naturally decaffeinated.

Sarah, Starbucks sells a really good blend of rooiboos tea, I really enjoy it a lot! Of course, they make it into a chai tea latte, which isn't really in the Zone, so I usually order it as a plain tea. Then, I sometimes will just add some milk for a bit of creaminess.

They also sell it in the form of teabags.

I am sure that you can find rooiboos tea sold by other brands, and possibly a lot less expensive. Just wanted you to know that I really enjoy the one that Starbucks sells.

I believe that Caribou Coffee also sells a rooiboos tea, but I have never had it there. Probably very similar!

Hi Cranberrycat,

Awesome, I didn't know that. So, a plain tea it is then ... I'll order one the next time I'm at Starbucks.

Many thanks,

I have mentioned it, here, a couple years back.
Starbucks has their TAZO in tins, Vanilla Rooiboos Tea.
Just ask for the Rooiboos Tea, and you'll get that,
just plain Tea in hot water.
My wife buys me a couple of tins each year for Christmas stocking stuffer...

Tulsi Tea is also caffeine free - but it also comes in flavors,
aside from the "Original", like Tulsi Rooiboos - two healthy teas in one!
But, they also have Tulsi Green tea - which would have some caffeine, as it has Green tea leaves in it.
(Organic India for Tulsi teas.)
