    Hi.

I´m new in the Zone diet. when I started yesterday, the calcule gave me 31 blocks.

As you know, that is a loooot of food. There is some facts that i should mention that will make the 31 block not as crazy, im 6´9 246 punds and I play profesional basketball.

the thing is that I tried and that amount of food its litteraly imposible to eat, I drop from 31 to 27 and spreaded like this 4 in the morning, 1 about 11 am, 10 at lunch, 1 at mid day and 10 at dinner. but still, today i could only eat half of the lunch and i was barely have to eat all of my dinner.

my question to experts here is that if those 31 are off, maybe because of my size, or i still shoul try to eat that much food?

where can i find a goo food list to have more options?

my actual fat% its 11, and my goal is to get down to 7 while keeping my weight in 241 to 244.

thanks a lot, I have very high expectations with this diet.

    Hi Luis,

Assuming you chose the highest activity level, 31 blocks is correct. An athlete at that level would eat 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass (LBM). At teh weight of 246 pounds and having 11% body fat, you have approximately 219 pounds of LBM. There are 7 grams protein in one block. Your daily protiein requirement is 219 grams of protein (1 gram x 219 pounds). Your block amount is 31 blocks (291 grams protein /7).

To solve the probelm fo consumgin that much food, you can eat more often than 3 or 4 times a day. Keep meals to a manageable size of 5-6 blocks maximum, and eat 3-4 meals daily. Support your workouts with snacks to make up the rest of yoru daily block requirement. Snacks can be 1, 2 or 3 blocks each. Teh goal with the Zone is to provide your body with a constant supply of protein throughout the day. The Zone recommendation is to eat a snack prior to the workout and another snack after, unless you will be eating a meal immediately after. Assuming you workout multiple consecutive hours daily, it may also benefit you to have small snacks during your workouts. Zone shakes are excellent support for workouts. Each Zone shake contains are 3 blocks when mixed with a cup of milk. They make excellent meal replacements too. Zone bars are another good choice. Thats great info, Sue. thanks a lot.

    a couple questions more.

lets say this diet work and in 10 days instead of 246 and 11% body fat I´m 243 and 9% body fat. should I re do my diet and the amount of block a days I should eat?

you mention that all the shakes are 3 blocks, how about those bars?

    thanks a lot.

Your protein requirement would only change if your LBM or Activity Level changed significantly. That said, it's recommended to recalculate 2 weeks after you begin the Zone Diet, and use that as a baseline. Retained fluid from your previous way of eating can skew the initial calculator result. Zone bars contain 2 blocks. Zone cookies are also an excellent snack choice, 2 blocks per cookie. You can find Zone cookies here: http://shop.zonediet.com/custom/pro...d87ef956d8
