When I was on the Zone diet in 2007 I developed pretty bad sinus problems that caused me to leave the diet and change to a Zero Carb Atkins type of Diet which caused the problem to go away. Since starting the Zone again this March, I've noticed that the sinus issue is coming back.

I was searching the internet and found this site that said sinus problems can be caused by an allergy to any food -

    http://www.foodallergysolutions.com...s0309.html

Since the symptoms went away when I was eating no plant food of any kind, I'm probably allergic to some fruit or vegetable (I'm thinking it's got to be a fruit because after the Zero Carb Diet I was on a Vegan Diet where the only fruit allowed was grapefruit and I had no sinus issues).

I should probably go to an allergist for testing. Before doing that, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of another relationship between Zone eating and sinus problems. ???

Or, perhaps, if I give it enough time on the Zone, my immune system will improve and the allergy will go away. I was on the Zone diet for over a year before and it didn't. Has the Zone Diet cleared up allergies for anyone?

    Thanks,

    Larry,

I think you should give it some time. You JUST found your nitch with your zone balance, so give it some time to work. Anti-inflammation takes time, it won't happen overnight.

I will share this with you... I have been zoning for many years, and I had some problems with bronchitis during my early years. Since then, I haven't had much of any sickness at all. I basically follow everything that I need to do to live an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. I think I turned the corner with regard to allergies and illness when I began to eat more whole foods and less processed foods.

thanks, Sue and Cranberry - from that article it looks like increasing my fish oil might help. I take 4 capsules, now, which I think is 4 grams. Dr Sears recommended 5 to 10 grams to the person with allergies in the article to decrease leukotriene production.

Larry, you,re welcome. Fish oil dose is expressed by Dr. Sears in terms of combined grams of EPA and DHA. 4 capsules of Omega RX contains 2.5 grams of EPA and DHA. The 5g dose would be 8 capsules, and the 10 g dose would be 16 capsules.

And rather than go to an allergist, just eliminate fruit, when sinus problems abate, introduce one new fruit a week until the symptoms appear.
That might help you narrow it down.
