OK, Now that I have the Fat content figured out now wondering about Protein in the form of ground chicken 1/2 cup is 4 oz correct. So that would give me my 4 blocks. Is this a good way to measure my ground chicken ? |

Pre-cooked, 4 oz is about 4 blocks, yes. And for most meats. Fish is about 1.5 oz by weight, pre-cooked, per block of Protein. |

John, Yes thank you, Dr. Sears has repeated the 4oz thing over and over. What I was Wondering is 1/2 cup of meat 4 oz. It just seems small and It seems like I read some where 1 cup was 4 oz of meat. So can I use 1/2 cup ground chicken as 4 oz / 4 blocks ? |

Jerrold, A couple of things, 1. Most ground meats are 1.5 oz for 1 P block, and 2. I don't think you can assume the half cup of chicken actually weighs 4 ounces. If you don't have a scale, go by the package weight to determine how much of the package would constitute is 4 oz (if the package contains 1 pound of chicken, then 1/4 of the package contains 4 ounces). |

Hello Sue, First off, Congrats on the weight loss, That is a ton of weight to loose and keep off- WAY TO GO. I thought a half cup did not look right, Guess I will Have to buy a scale To do this right. Thanks. |

Thanks! :) You don't really need a scale. If you want ti go by weight you can take a portion of the total package weight as I described. An even easier way is to use Zone At-a-Glance instead of the block method (take protein the size and thickness of your palm, fill the other 2/3 of your plate with veggies and fruit, and add a dash of good fat). Dr. Sears prefers to keep it simple. I lost all 100 pounds eating this way, without measuring, weighing or counting a single block. It's easy and it works great! Have fun with it! |
