Hi There. I've been following the paleo (aka the caveman diet) diet for about 3 months now, originally starting on the diet solution program and then taking that further into removing all grains and "modern" carbs... Has anyone done a comparison of the Zone diet with the caveman diet? I would love to see the differences or hear from any experiences people have had across the 2? Thanks Russell |

Hi Russell; I did not (yet) look at your link; however you can do both. Balance your meals/snacks aka Zone while maintaining a Paleo food choice. My wife and I do, for the most part. The only big difference is Saturated Fat. Otherwise the two marry up and work very, well together. You can lean towards the Zone and reduce Saturated Fat, OR you can lean Paleo in that area, if that is your choice. Dr. Sears, otherwise promotes much of the same. Paleo Zone would be a stricter version of the Zone, sans the Saturated Fat. Zoned Paleo would be a balanced meal Paleo food choice. |

I agree with John. There are going to be similarities and differences, but basically the two can become one and the same. The paleo diet is actually very zone friendly, so just use the Zone Diet format for building meals, and use the paleo diet for food choices. Both are very anti-inflammatory type diets. I think that the paleo diet might be more beneficial in terms of anti-inflammatory food choices, because there is more leniency provided in the Zone. Yet, in terms of insulin control, the Zone is probably more beneficial for that reason. So, marrying the two diets together is probably an optimal way of achieving the best diet possible. |
