A whole Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortilla weighs 2 oz. 1/2 of one is10g net carbs and has a glycemic load of only 5. That's bout 1/2 the GL of an ounce (1/3 cup) of cooked oatmeal.

see - http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts...m/628049/2 (put in 1 ounce as the serving size)

I don't think the Ezekiel bread is that low because it contains malted barley as a sweetener.

These tortillas really taste great, too. With this low a GL could it be considered a favorable, now and then carb like barley or beans?

Sorry Larry, they're not a favorable carbohyrate. Stick with vegetables and fruit.

But as part of a meal, if your system remains in the Zone,
have them as the unfav portion.

    Larry,

I agree with John, if you are able to tolerate a portion of your meal coming from unfavorable carb, then I think this could fit in. I would consider it the unfavorable portion of your meal, and then you would need to make everything else favorable.

Sprouted grains are not considered favorable in the Zone, but my opinion on it is that they are probably a better choice than a conventional tortilla/wrap. I wouldn't recommend using it as a regular item in your meal plan, but certainly would be a nice go-to item for when you want to use a tortilla. No food is taboo in the Zone, moderation is the key!
