My question is what would be a good post practice snack?

I play Roller Derby twice a week. My routine is to eat dinner at 5 pm, and practice starts at 8pm and goes to 10pm. We have about three water breaks. After practice I have a small coconut water on my way home. Once I arrive at home I find myself rummaging the fridge, and tent to settle for a cheese stick and a hand full of fruit. I don't get a full eight hours of sleep on practice nights, it usually is 61/2 to 7 if I fall asleep right away.

What post practice snack would you suggest?

I don't sell zone products, but perhaps a zone bar like :http://shop.zonediet.com/product/de...l/208.aspx

How about some yogurt, with added blue berries, with a fiber bar: http://fiberone.com/products/bars/ and some almonds.

Whatever you take, I understand having a balance, carbs, protein, and fat, is essential with any meal, including snack.

Best luck with the Roller Derby.

    Great idea, Kevin!

I thought I had posted the same response, having suggested zone bars, but I don't see my post here at all. At least we are on the same wavelength!

Hey thanks Kevin I love the advice, and Cranberrycat too.

So I guess I am sort of on the right track. I just don't want eat too much before bed, because then I have a hard time falling asleep, and I have wicked nightmares.

Hey Julia... You are doing great !

Just an add on: You would want to count your post-workout snack as an addition to your daily blocks. You should have a 1-block snack no later than 30 minutes after a workout to replenish carbohydrate stores for energy, and to repair any muscle damage. The best thing to do is double check that you’re eating enough blocks daily with your activity level. Go to zonediet.com “tools” and “zone classic” where you’ll be able to click on the “zone blocks calculator.” This will also help to determine if you are consuming enough protein for your activity level.
