Hi All, Just wanted to thankyou for your helpful input. Ive finally worked out all my dramas. Happy to say i am back in the zone and feeling awesome. It turns out my blood pressure problem was in actual fact a healthy hatred of doctors visits (its an aussie thing i think, we don't get sick!!!). After buying a blood pressure cuff and checking it against the doctors cuff, i actually have awesome blood pressure. I am not able to get one high reading nothing above 122/80. I have relented and bought a protein powder but found a soy based one formulated for women. It doesn't give me the sick feeling in the stomach afterwards. I was having really bad stress and sinus headaches so i did the joe cross (fat sick and nearly dead) juice detox (but only breakfast and lunch still ate dinner). This helped me want to get back on track and get my thinking right. My head space and my body were all wrong, i was over everything including the zone. I think the volume of protein was freaking me out, i was getting so sick of eating protein at every meal. Thus the protein shakes. Sue you mentioned the fish oil, this is my next step. How many milligrams should i be aiming for each day?. Thankyou all for your suggestions its been great. Louise.

Great to hear that you are doing well! If you are buying the Zone's fish oil, then you will want to aim for 4 capules (or 1 tsp). That works out to about 1600 mg of EPA and 800 mg of DHA. If you are overweight or fighting other chronic conditions, then you may need more of it to knock down the cellular inflammation. I believe that your best bet is to discuss it with a trained zone presentative. |

thanks cranberry, ill go and scope some out, Its a little harder in australia to source zone stuff so ill probably just get high potency prescribed from a natropath.T he more you guys talk about DHA, EPA, AA and a host of other acronyms the more i think i should buy one the books and have a good read. I understand many of the zone concepts but i think i could learn more. I bought 2 books, zone blocks and 100 zone foods but need something with a more scientific basis. What book would you recommend? |

If you are looking for science, then the book TOXIC FAT is probably a good place to start. He does write about a variety of topics, so it depends on what you are looking for. Information re: fish oil is best in this book and in OMEGA RX ZONE. |

I agree. I stumbled upon the OMEGA RX ZONE 8 years ago (early April 2004). And it is deep in the science that appealed and made sense to me. Any other book, and I would have probably not taken it so seriously or given it a try. It was the right book at the right time. . However, TOXIC FAT also does a very good job with explanations, is more up=to=date, and is in more and easier lay terms (to some degree) with the deeper science in the appendices, for further reading. I would start with Toxic fat, first. |
