I can't believe that your cancelling the bread products! My husband loves the cinnamon buns. My 14-yr-old daughter loves the fusilli. Do you have any idea how these products have helped in their fight against silent inflammation? My husband has a serious condition (shoreman's disease-I don't know.how to spell it), and he has some serious pain. This food has helped him lose weight and Fha bloating he suffers. I am trying to teach my daughter proper nutrition which is impossible these days. Now, with this cancellation, my job is even harder. I hope you enjoy that expensive cruise while you cut this nutional food because it's too expensive. You are confusing your message. Melissa Tuley Owensboro, KY |

This is not something that I had heard... where did you hear about this change? I still see the bread products listed for sale.

Hi Melissa, We're all going to miss it a lot at my house too. We're still kind of shell shocked at the thought. It's been the basis of my diet for the past 2 1/2 years. I have personal medical concerns that make it of the utmost importance for me to follow a strict anti-inflammatory diet that contains as little AA and omega 6 as possible. Unfortunately, diluting out excess AA with an increased fish oil dose is not a viable option in my unique case. Zone foods have put my blood labs in the best place they've been in all of my adult life, far better than any Zone meals ever have, not to mention I'm feeling better than ever, and I've been practicing strict adherence to the Zone diet for over 17 years. Just thought it might help you to know you're not alone. I the positive side, at least we'll still have the cookies

The cookies are way TOO SWEET tasting! And that's all they're keeping? I usually can not afford most Zone foods, but as I am wrapping up a busy work week in Las Vegas, what will I do next year? If they lowered the price to something more reasonable, they might have gotten more sales! |

I am with John on those cookies... way too sweet! I did try those cinnamon rolls once, and did like them (but did not keep me in the Zone). So, no one has answered the question, are they really discontinuing the products? If so, again, I agree with John, maybe more sales would have come their way had the prices been lower.

For those of you who have had success with Zone Nougat bars, pasta, bread products, and granola as additions to the Zone Diet, we thank you for support. Unfortunately, our limited sales channel via the Internet was not sufficient to cover the cost of their production. Dr Sears is personally very gratified by their ability to increase satiety using newly patented technology, but he is also realistic that it makes very little business sense to continue. The goal of the Zone Diet is the reduction of cellular inflammation. That goal is the reason our company exists. Our challenge is to continually develop new dietary technologies that will allow you to make that goal as obtainable as possible. |

The cost of the food was prohibitive. Most people that I know would not be able to afford the food, especially since the food required other grocery additions. In my opinion, take it for what its worth, Dr. Sears needs to partner up again with Cedarlane and get back into producing those frozen meals that are easily accessible in a grocery store. Same with the bars. He isn't going to sell that many bars online when there are so many other bars readily available in stores. Most people don't know the difference, and there is likely a very narrow margin of people (like us zone nerds) that will actually care about this. |

Melissa Good news is you can order the foods until March 30th. So be sure to stock that freezer while you can. We are Zone Labs are happy to help you make the Transition to Classic Zone. There are 1000's of classic recipes on-line that you can access. CranberryCat.. Being someone who often seems to be a CLASSIC Zone person.. We will look forward to your positive input to help us all make more natural food choices and help those like Melissa to make the transition to classic Zone meals. We plan to continue producing the Zone Bars. It is only the Nougat bars we will stop producing. |

Will the ZONE foods keep longer if frozen? I "might" have a second business trip to Singapore. And since with my company paying the meal per diem, it is the ONLY time I an afford a large order (full week's worth) of food. So, if I oredr on 30th March, will they keep frozen until I use them after my flight to Singapore on the 21 April? . or my trip to Las Vegas every year, its simple. I order on Friday before 3 PM. They arrive on Wednesday. I place the Flat Breads and the Nouget Bars (and the Brownies last year) in the freezer. I pack the foods into a freezer gel lined bag into my suitcase rght before I leave the house for the airport. And by the time I arrive at the hotel about 8 to 9 hours later, they are still frozen. I place in the (requested) hotel room refrigerator, where they last all week for my business trip. . But my unexpected second business trip, this year, to Singapore, is not until a probable 21 April flight. So, I would order the requisite Zone Foods on 30 March. Will they keep that long, frozen? (And still be effective?) . With the Zone foods and a grocery shopping trip for fruits and some real food protein, I was able to maintain my desired weight again this year to Las Vegas. (I actually lost 1 pound total.) .

Yes, John. They will freeze fine and will last much longer than 1 month. In fact I just stocked my freezer with several months worth. Freezing doesn't alter taste or performance. Have fun in Singapore! |

I allowed only so much room in my budget to get the foods I loved. I modified them every month to get the most important stuff. If I stock my freezer, its going to cost me quite a bit more than I anticipated for the month. So if I can figure out how to afford it I will. As flor the classic zone, I have been using that lifestyle for several years now. I love it. And, I have been able to influence my family with it. Having the bread products took a lot of thought out of some of my meals. It was just so nice. And my husband likes convenience foods, so convincing him to try the bread products, was easy. Its all okay. I'm adjusting to the idea. It's like everything else. Somebody starts a product I like, don't sell enough, and take it back. I'm grateful for what I had while it lasted. Melissa Tuley |

Yeah, I probably didn't get a letter because I don't have any current orders out there. I remember a really great soda product that I just loved, It was a sparkling green tea. There was nothing like it! They made the mistake of marketing it as a "calorie burner" and the company was sued. Basically they had to stop making the product. I was so sad, because I really enjoyed it even more than any other soda that I ever had, and not because of the claims it made as being a calorie burner, but because it had such a great taste. I still have not gotten over that! |

So, you have a Soda Stream. Have you tried to make your own Green Tea soda alternative?

P.S. RE: Zone Foods being dropped: . I had just placed an ordera couple weeks back, before I went to Las Vegas, and I did NOT get a letter. Maybe because I only order from them about twice a year.

John, I have tried but it isn't as good. I have used concentrated green tea, a variety of sweeteners (splenda worked out the best but have not tried truvia), and also tried workiing in some citric acid. All in all, it is a suitable alternative, but it is a bother to make it, and so I just don't try anymore! |

I plan to put my order in on 29 march, so my per Diem for my 21 April trip to Singapore, can pay for it. The only time I can really afford them. Thanks. |

Not surprising that they were dropped based on the price alone. I understand that they are good in a pinch and many people love the, but this seems to have become about sales instead of helping people be healthier. When you charge $20 for 7 cookies, someone has seriously lost touch with reality. Dr Sears needs to refocus on the original message and away from the processed junk. How about creating a website that contains an online food diary with a block calculator and an app to track on the go. I understand it's a business and many of us would pay for those types of things rather than a bunch of Frankenfoods. |

I would agree, Kat. I was thinking the same way about the bagels. In my pre-zone days, I loved eating bagels. And, when the zone foods were first introduced, I did order some bagels. But, it didn't seem reasonable to me to be paying $14 for a package of 7 bagels (plus shipping). I was never a big fan of the foods, myself. However, I do feel that the foods were a fairly good choice for some people, the foods were good in a pinch; and lets face it... the way we live our lives these days, does not leave much room for cooking up full meals in the kitchen. Many people are looking for easy fixes that will save time. I hear that they are working on a new and improved line of foods. I am hoping that the food will be more affordable, and I am hoping that the new foods are more in line with the original Zone recommendations. Years ago, the Zone had partnered up with Cedarlane foods, and for a while, there was a line of frozen foods that were approved by the Zone. However, those foods no longer exist, either. I don't believe that they were really marketed that well. I also agree about the app, if they developed it, I bet there would be a good market for a phone app. Lots of apps are free, but I would pay for the privilege of using a really good app.

Kat.. Your name is so familiar... The foods were a great jump start for many on their way to the Zone and that is exactly why they were produced...yes many used the foods for convenience... The results were amazing for those individuals who used these Zone balanced foods. be assured we work each and everyday to provide information and support.. Dr Sears sent out a letter a while back.. he said in the letter: Unfortunately, our limited sales channel via the Internet was not sufficient to cover the cost of their production. I am personally very gratified by their ability to increase satiety using newly patented technology, but I am also realistic that it makes very little business sense to continue. I guess I missed out, I would have been willing to try some of the food, I would rather grab a zone meal when I'm in a big hurry than to go to the golden arches. I'm just wondering if he ever had his foods in Trader Joes, The whole food markets, or even COSCO. It's been my experience that a lot of people unfortunately want instant gratification, so having to order it could be a problem for some people, but if the meals are in your favorite store, that could help sales, you see jenny craig and weight watcher meals in the store all the time but I would have rather tried zone. too bad it's gone. :( |
