Toni, dr. Sears doesn't recommend it for the Zone. You can read his opinions about it by clicking on the Drsears.com link in the tool bar above and doing a search of that site for coconut oil. |

However, as with anything, your choice. My wife and I use it for all of our cooking. Not ingesting a whole lot, but as a medium chain - not like most other saturated fats. And mostly lauric acid (sic?) - which is abundant in breast milk, among other sources. |

P.S. Bottom line from Dr. Sears: "Coconut oil can be used in moderation since it contains very little, if any, omega-6 fatty acids." Read more details in Sue's search suggestion - how more than "in moderation" can saturate liver and deplete glycogen stores. |

Totally agree John coconut oil gets a great write up in our household. The only thing that cured our sons excema was sunlight and coconut oil. Steroids (not a fan!), tumeric, olive oil, oats, goats milk soap. You name it we tried it only the coconut oil worked. Amazing stuff to read up on, they are researching its affect on HIV, diabetes, cancers and many other dibilitating diseases. Its also known to help with weightloss. It doesn't taste too bad mixed into some yogurt, it will clump up but tastes fine. We also use it for cooking, moisturising and hair treatments. I haven't tried yet but a friend said she uses it as sunscreen also (She said you can't get burn't while wearing it) i haven't been brave enough to try that theory yet. |

If you melt it, and then drizzle it in the blender while making a smoothie, it does not clump up. |
