I'm looking through the recipes and came across the asparagus quiche. Can I use egg substitute instead of the 6 egg whites?

    Thank you

Yes you can use egg substitute instead of 6 egg whites. I believe 1/4 cup egg substitute = 2 egg whites so you would use 3/4 of a cup.

My husband and I have the same issue as you - he can have 4 blocks and me 3. So what I do is figure out the recipe to equal 8 blocks. After its cooked, I split it in half for 4 block portions. On my portion I then take 1/4 of it and put it away in a microwavable food storage dish for a 1-block snack for later. I use these for my afternoon snack a lot.

IN USA, one can buy processed Egg in a carton.
It is called Egg Substitute, and basically is processed eggs without yolk.
(And probably added "ingredients" to simulate egg yolk - so they have the same consistency and behaviour of real, whole eggs)
I have never used them, so I am unfamiliar with the additional added ingredients.

I have only used them on rare occasion, so not familiar with the product.

    from http://lowfatcooking.about.com/od/f...titute.htm

...egg substitute products such as Egg Beaters brand, contain 99 percent egg whites. The other one percent comprises undefined “natural flavor,” coloring, spices, salt, onion powder, xanthan gum and guar gum. Many nutrients are added to make up for the ones lost from the yolk, so egg substitute will usually contain varying amounts of iron, zinc, folate, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamins A, E, B6 and B12, and have an equivalent amount of protein as whole eggs. While some brands, like Egg Beaters, contain no fat or cholesterol, others use vegetable oil as an ingredient, which adds to the fat content again—though the fat is largely unsaturated.
