Hello,
I wasn't sure where to post this comment, but it seems important, so please feel free to move it to a different topic.
I found some conflicting information in two different lists on the Zone website: the ZONE Food Blocks list from the
http://www.zonediet.com/tools/zone-classic page, and the Grocery Additions list from the
http://www.zonediet.com/plans/grocery-additions page. I assumed that the food amounts per block would be the same on these two lists, but that doesn't seem to be the case. For example, on the first page of the ZONE Food Blocks list, under Low Density Carbohydrates, for 1 block of cooked artichoke it gives an amount of 4 large; and on the grocery list, under cooked vegetables, it gives 1/2 medium artichoke, which is about one-eighth the size of the amount given on the first page. Similarly, for cooked broccoli, the first list gives 3 cups for a block while the second list gives 1/2 cup for a block, which is one-sixth the amount given on the first page. Many of the block amounts for cooked vegetables, raw vegetables and raw leafy greens are inconsistent between the two lists; the amounts on the ZONE Food Blocks list tend to be several times the amounts on the other list. There are also some minor inconsistencies with some of the fruit items. (The legumes amounts, however, are the same on both lists, except for the hummus amount.)
I also noticed one minor issue with the ZONE Food Blocks list: turkey bacon is listed under both the Best Choices list and the Fair Choices list.
Could the ZONE staff please clarify which list we should be following? The block amounts should be standardized between the various lists on the website so that ZONE followers know how much they can eat. If the differences were small, e.g., 1/3 cup versus 1/2 cup, I wouldn't be concerned, but when one list has amounts several times higher than the other list's amounts, this really should be resolved.
