I'm back on The Zone eating program after about eight years away from it. I remembered that I lost the weight really well, but I never did have the original book (I was using the Seven Days in the Zone book as a guide) and I had forgotten how much energy this eating method gave me. Now I have bought the original book as a Kindle and I am really enjoying reading all the science behind the Zone. I've been eating right for three days and already I am feeling so much better! So glad to be back. |

That's great Mary! You would probably also like the newest Zone book, "Toxic Fat", to get up to date on the more recent Zone developments. |

I got the Toxic Fat book over a year ago and still haven't gotten into it. I have tried a few times but it puts me to sleep! Maybe I don't have a scientific brain. I was disappointed that the recipes were copies from A Week in the Zone book. Would have been nice to have some new fresh ones. The A Week in the Zone book is a much easier read. Plus it has an index in the back for recipes and topics which the Toxic Fat book doesn't. |

Thanks for the welcome! I'm going to finish reading the first book first, and stick with the program that's familiar until I get back in the groove. Then I'll check up on the updates. |

I don't have any particular recommendations for you. I find that many low-carb books have recipes that are quite high in fat, but most of them can be altered to fit into the Zone pretty well! |

lol I would have recommended the Zone recipes, but I don't actually consider these recipes to be "low carb". |

Tech Support Are all the Zone Classic recipes true Zone recipes? Last time we had this discussion they had not been verified as Zone recipes as they were being submitted and not checked/tested by Zone staff. |

This is great! Franky, I guess we're sort of starting together! I'm down five pounds so far, and feeling great. I'm on chapter 9 of the book, and I was checking out the info on iecosanoids (icosandoids) on Wikipedia and it looks like thinking hasn't changed too much on this subject since the book was written. Good for Dr. Sears! |

Tech Support It doesn't seem right that the recipes that are on the site presently are being used and classed as Zone without having been verified. Shouldn't the ones that are obviously not Zoned be taken off, verified and then put back on? Will you be updating the Forums to let us when the recipes are all correctly Zoned? |

Down 10! Thanks Dr. Sears!!!! (Lots to go. I'm leaving for India in a week. It'll be interesting to see how I make out combining The Zone with not eating or drinking anything that might make me sick!):unsure: |

Mary, I am so glad you came back to the Zone, I, also, am just starting the Zone Diet again. A few years ago I lost weight on the Zone and was within 5 lbs of my goal weight. Then I got complacent and it didn't take long before the weight started to creep back. Needless to say, I am almost back where I started from years ago. After a scare from my doctor about my cholesterol and triglycerides, I remembered how nicely they came down on the Zone, so I got out my Toxic Fat book and will be reading with fervor. I wish you all the best and much success!

Hi Linda, Glad to hear you're getting back into the Zone again. Toxic Fat, excellent choice. I like the way tha book presents the whole picture. I wish you the best of luck. In no time you'll be back to where you were with the Zone last time. |

Thank you Sue, you are a big inspiration to me. I get a lot of menu ideas from your photos. Instead of mentally beating myself up for gaining the weight back, I am putting all of my energy into enjoying great food and knowing I am getting healthier by the day. I know a lot of people think the book, Toxic Fat is hard to understand, but it isn't really. Just take the time to let it soak in and you will see the whole picture. You will appreciate how food does become our medicine. I have really gotten interested in nutrition and am thoroughly enjoying reading this book. |

Thanks Linda! :) I agree. Start from today, one day at a time, and no looking back. Like the saying goes, you are what you eat. Like you, I also became more and more interested in nutrition as I learned about the Zone. It ultimately led to me working for Zone Labs. I'm planning my holiday entertaining menus at the moment (Christmas Eve Party, Christmas dinner, and a birthday party on Christmas night for my oldest daughter). I love the flexibility my Zone knowledge gives me when planning the food for events like this. We're having bone-in roasted turkey breast (no dark meat this way), roasted veggies, a creamed fennel dish (close to Zoned but has extra fat), delicious homemade salsa, shrimp, a fondue for dipping veggies and chunks of Zone bread, and a lot more. Can you tell my family loves to eat? :) You can see some additional more recent meal photos in my "food" photo album on my facebook page (Sue Knorr). Please keep us updated, and let me know if I can help.

Sue, it sure sounds like your family benefits from your knowledge. That menu sounds wonderful and I know your family will enjoy everything you serve. :-) I served bone-in roasted turkey breast at Thanksgiving: and I always make my own sodium free broth with the carcass afterward. I freeze it in cubes to use as needed. My husband is on a special diet for kidney failure so I have had to study about renal diets too. Whenever possible, I prepare meals that we both can eat but sometimes I cook different things for each of us to suit our needs. I am happy to report that because his meals are prepared properly, he has held his ground and has not needed to start dialysis yet. We have to control sodium, calcium, protein, potassium and phosphorus, while making satisfying meals...not an easy task because he is a picky eater. But it just helped me to learn more about nutrition and how the body uses what we put into it and how it suffers from the lack of other things it doesn't get. I appreciate everyone that is helping others to improve their health and take control of their own well being. I feel very blessed to have a resource like this as a guide and I hope I can help encourage others along the way. |

Broth, good idea! I'm glad your husband's stricter diet has helped to delay dialysis. You might consider contacting a Zone coach (their services are free) to see wheher there are adjustments to the Zone that could further support his needs. Best wishes to you both. |
