Hello everyone -- I'm training for my sixth marathon and working on staying in the Zone. Does anyone have any recommendations for refueling during long runs (more than 90 min)? Are there low GI drinks, etc? Thank you ! |

Hi , My husband, and also our daughters (adults), run marathons and eat in the Zone. They train following the Zone diet and run on water only during training runs and the actual event, no other refueling and no carb loading prior to events. Make sure to have a Zone balanced breakfast. There's a marathoner named Martha who trains and runs "in the Zone" and posts her meals and time improvements here in the Athlete forum here (she runs excellent 3+ hour times). If I can find her threads I'll post links. you may be able to find them with a search. Good luck! |

A quick 1 block snack 15-30 minutes before and immediately after your run. |

Roseann, the runners in my family also support their runs as Tech suggested, with Zone balanced snacks/meals before and after. My reply about water referred to during long runs. |
