I found this recipe on an AOL welcome screen a few years ago. It fits into the Zone very well. I use Navitas brand of raw cacao powder.

    "Slimmer Cocoa

Heat 8 ounces of low-fat or non-fat milk with a cinnamon stick. Pour it into your mug and stir in one tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and one teaspoon of vanilla extract."

I have a couple tips for this recipe. Remember to look at the fat content of the milk and cocoa powder you choose, and if needed, eat a few nuts with it to balance the fat. Also, using a glycerin based alcohol free vanilla extract will result in a slightly sweeter taste.

I think I need a do over:-) when I try it next time I have to make sure I dissolve the cocoa powder a lot better! I'm going to put it in the milk before I heat it up and see how that works.

Paula, I've tried a small whisk and also a shaker. Both worked pretty well.

I've been taking about 3 heaping TBS of raw cacao powder a day in warm unsweetened almond with stevia. It's a superfood, so I gotta have it.
We'll, I've been getting constipated with only 2 changes in my diet (this cocoa and MSM supplement). I'm dropping both to see what happens but I suspect it's the cocoa that's doing it.

    http://phillipmintonmd.wordpress.co...stipation/

"In South and Central America, raw uncooked cacao has been used as an important folk medicine since antiquity. It is used to treat diarrhea. "

It says that chocolate can be the cause "when an avid chocolate consumer suffers chronic constipation, especially if they consume raw or relatively unprocessed chocolate products"

That's interesting, because cacao is a good source of magnesium, and magnesium helps alleviate constipation.

it's entirely possible that what causes one person to get constipated can cause another person to have the runs, though!

I know I react differently to some foods than other people.

I'm back on my cocoa and doing fine. I'm just having less.
