Hi Marcine, Welcome! :) I'll be happy to help. I lost 100 pounds with the Zone 16 years ago and I've kept it off ever since by following the Zone lifestyle. I also have hypothyroidism. I can't say enough good things about it. It's changed my whole life. Keep it simple as you start. Take it one meal, one snack, at a time. First go to the Body Fat Calculator in the tools tab above to find out your daily protein needs. You'll probably be at 11 blocks daily. That can easily be accomplished with 3 meals, an afternoon snack and an evening snack. If you require more than 11 blocks, eat additional snacks to satisfy your need. The Zone fast plan, described in the Plans tab above is the easiest. If you prefer to eat Classic Zone meals, as described in the books you have, the plate method is the easiest way to go, and it works great. It's the way I lost my 100 pounds. Simply take a regular dinner sized plate adn place lean protein on it the size and thickness of the palm of your hand. Fill the rest of the plate to overflowing with vegetables and fruits (use the Grocery Additions list in the Plans tab above and the lists in your Zone books as guides to types of veggies and fruit). Take care to judge your hunger 4 hours after meals. If at 4 hours you're hungry and focused, it means you need to add another block of carbohydrate to your meal; if you’re hungry and unfocused or experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms you should drop one carbohydrate block from your meal. Using the food Journal in the Tools tab above can be helpful as you begin. As you read the Zone books, keep in mind that placing your focus on the health aspects of the Zone will yield the best weight loss results. The Zone is not about deprivation. When you eat to lower inflammation and achieve hormonal control your body becomes lean. I'll be happy to help if you have questions. Good luck and have fun with it! ______________________________ sue Consultant of Zone Labs Certified Zone Affiliate
