Help, I am newbie and I am using the zone 123 foods to get me started until I can figure out the blocks and everything. What do you do with the croutons. I see one suggestion of adding to a light veggie soup, but what about a salad. What would I add to make it a perfect zone meal for one with the package of croutons and how much, I do know this has to be very precise to get the meal right? Thanks for any suggestions.

Lisa, thecroutons provide the balanced P, C and F for the meal. You can simply add it to a garden veggie salad. Use this Grocery Additions info if you're not sure what kinds of foods to put in your salad: http://www.zonediet.com/plans/grocery-additions

Lisa, some more info, no it doesn't need to be exacting and precise. 123 foods make it very easy. Simply treat them as you would regular breads and baked goods. Add the croutons to salads, soups, or even use them as you would stuffing mix. You can add veggies, fruits, good fats (mmonounsaturated fat) and up to 1 oz of protein to any 123 meal. If you're making a Classic Zone meal, it's easiest to use the plate mathod. Put lean protien the size and thickness of the palm of your hand on a dinner sized plate, fill the rest of the plate with veggies and some fruit, and add a dash of monounsaturated fat. It's that easy. I lost 100 pounds with this method alone (16 years ago, before Zone 123 foods), never weighing or measuring any foods, and not counting blocks (and I'm very sensitive to carbohydrate). It works great!

I do like to take 1/2 the bag of crouton and then substituting another 1/2 of a protein for my salads. That is a lot of crutons for one salad

That's a good idea Lisa. I did something similar the other day. I made a huge bowl of salad for my husband and I for dinner (salad was the whole dinner) using 1 1.2 bags of croutons and somesmoked salmon. Delicious! you can see photos of it in my Food album on my Facebook page (Sue Knorr).
