As I mentioned last week, I've started to work on getting into the Zone again. I haven't been perfect in it, but I'm getting there. The past week or so I have been feeling kind of lousy overall, especially after I eat. I can't explain it well, other than my head feels all funny, maybe a little light headed or a bit out of it, and sometimes a little nauseous. It had gotten to the point that I dreaded eating because of how I would feel afterwards. I realized last night that it could be a combination of things: possibly getting pregnancy sickness again in my third trimester, trying to eat more Zone friendly meals and thus my body going through some detoxing, constipation, but the one huge thing I think it's been is the amount of milk I've been consuming lately. I know it's not the best Zone block to put in, but it's an easy block for me to add to any meal and with the amount of milk I've been getting from WIC, I've been trying to keep up with what I get so it doesn't go bad. So I decided today that I was going to drastically limit the amount of dairy in my diet. I've only had one block of cheese (as part of a pre-workout snack) and I felt fine after having it. I've tried to keep solely to the Zone with every meal/snack I've had (and eating the proper amounts a pregnant woman should have) today. My head has still felt kind of funny, but nothing like it has been, and it's not associated to when I eat. I've also been eating one less block of carbohydrates at every meal, as I seem to be sensitive to that as well. I know it's not gestational diabetes, as I was tested for it last week at my baby appointment. So here's what I'm wondering: Does anyone have enough of a medical background to know if I should be concerned/calling the doctor about anything right now, or should I give this diet (less dairy, less carbs) a couple of days to see how it goes before I call? I can still feel the baby kicking around just as much as before, so I'm not so concerned about him. I just don't know what is "normal" in a pregnancy, what isn't, and with throwing the Zone diet into all of it as well, how much that is affecting me. I would like the opinion of a Zoner, because you understand the diet and the effects of it on a beginner's body, more than a nurse would. Thank you!! |
