    Hi again,

I must be missing something because some of the meals on the Women's 7 Day Meal Planner don't make sense to me. I'm expecting 3 blocks each of protein, carbs and fat because that's what it says the typical woman should eat.

For the chili lunch day 5, I count 4.5 blocks of protein for the ground beef, and but only about 2 blocks of carbs (1 for the kidney beans, about .7 for the tomatoes, and about .2 for the onion), and 3 blocks of fat. I thought they should both be 3 blocks (or at least make the carbs and fat blocks match the protein blocks).

And the cheeseburger lunch on day 3 has 3 ounces ground beef and 1 ounce cheese which I think is 4 blocks protein in a meal with 3 fat and 3 carbs.

I can't tell if I'm not understanding this or if I'm trying to hard to make everything come out to 3 blocks, but I thought that the point was supposed to be that all 3 be equal numbers of blocks.

    Hi Pam,

Ground meat is 1.5 oz for 1 P block.  For future reference, here's the Zone Food Blocks list:  http://www.zonediet.com/Tools/Quick...fault.aspx

Here's a quick block analysis of the chili meal in the Woman's 7 Day Meal Planner.

    Lunch: Chili (Meat or Vegetarian)

    Ingredients
    1 teaspoon olive oil  (3 F blocks)
4 ½ ounces lean (less than 10%) ground beef (substitute ground turkey or 1 cup vegetable protein crumbles*) (3 P blocks)
¼ cup yellow onions, peeled and minced (negligible amount of carbohydrate)
1 teaspoon chili powder, or to taste
½ teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper, or to taste
1 cup salsa or stewed tomatoes with liquid (2C blocks)
¼ cup kidney beans, drained and rinsed (1C block)
sprinkling of low-fat Monterey Jack cheese (optional) (negligible amount of protein)

    Total 3P blocks, 3C blocks, 3F blocks

Thank you! That really helps to see it laid out like that. Hopefully once I start doing this I won't be so confused.

Pam, you're welcome.  It's even easier to use the plate dividing method, no blocks involved, and it works great.  It's the way I lost 100 pounds.  You can find it here:  http://www.zonediet.com/Tools/Quick...fault.aspx

How do you get access to the 7-day meal planner (mentioned here https://www.zonediet.com/registration-page?returnurl=https://www.zonediet.com/tools/zone-membership).

New to the zone, starting out with the hand-eye method and trying to learn to calculate blocks. My husband started with me as well so also knowing the differences between my portions and his.

    Thanks!
