Just came in to say hi to you all How is every1 doing? Welcome Brandi! I was 9 months without candies and choklate, and now that I started having them again...well,it got out of hand :S. I am so addicted to sugar. I loove licoric and choklate. I really need to find out the way not to buy them all the time. Maybe the answer is in books. Something about mind controlling etc. I'll try to read your last week's posts in the evening. Now gtg to work. Take care! |

Hi Veera! It's great to hear from you ! Yes, I can relate to the sweets -- they're my #1 downfall too. Once I remove them from my diet, I don't crave them or even miss them. Unfortunately, as soon as I introduce them -- even in small amounts -- the cravings kick in, and it's a constant struggle to resist them. I'm focused on filling my daily meals and snacks with Zone-favorable foods I enjoy, so that I'm satisfied without the sweets. Hope you find what works for you! Laurie |

Based on Ivan's recommendation, I told a colleague about "The End of Over Eating" book. She went to her library and picked it up. The next time I saw her she thanked me, and told me it was a great recommendation. Now, my wife, who has the same problem with chocolate, wants to but the book as well. Worth considering . . . . . |

Hi John, Yes -- I think that book is awesome. When I see sweets, I remind myself that they are engineered to make us crave them and want more and more. Knowing that makes me feel like I'm being manipulated -- and makes it easier to walk away . Laurie |

Sweets are usually my downfall, too. I did well this past Halloween, got rid of all of the candy before it ever became an issue! |

I thought I would share a picture of my youngest "baby" in my avatar! This was taken during one of our family adventures in October. She is 7 1/2. |

Thx Laurie! John,I will search for that book from our libraries. Maybe it's in Finnish too. Heh. Tomorrow is Father's day (atleast here) and I baked a cake. So gonna have it for breakfast. Yummm, and yes more than 1 piece because I know I cannot control myself . I get one KG (kg=kilogramms...weightloss magazine) home monthly and I read an article about gravings. I learned that we can control ourselves, that we are not weak. For Example we get up every morning to go to work, even we don't always feel like going to work. We have willpower when we want to. It's an long article, and can't remember anything else, but it made me think that hey,I've been contolling myself at some point at a grocery store. Passed pastry and ice cream shelves without even looking at them. |

My wife purchased the Audio version of "The End of Over Eating" book. She is now listening to it for the second time. She says it is good. She says He's kind of out of main stream, like Dr. Sears was 10 years ago. . (Funny how my wife only decided to get it after our friend got it based on my recommendation, and only after our friend said how good it was...lol) . P.S. I might actually have to get it, now - and read it.

That is interesting... I think it is a good book with some good points in it. But, I have struggled to finish it. Seems as if there were sections that just repeated the same information, or perhaps it seemed that way to me. I think I would do better with the audio version of that book, may have to look for that! |
