I listened to a really good radio talk show last weekend, "The People's Pharmacy". The topic of conversation was related to alternative approaches to mental health. I found it interesting because many of the interventions that were suggested are also things that are zone recommendations.
The guest speaker was Tieraona Low Dog, MD, she is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Fellowship for the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. She has served as Chair of the United States Pharmacopeia Dietary Supplements--Botanicals Expert Committee and on the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Some of her approaches were quite familiar. She talked about diet, specifically following a "Mediterranean-style" diet. Although she didn't name an diet in particular, she stressed an intake of healthy proteins, mono-unsaturated fats, and a variety of fruits and veggies. Fish high in omega-3 was highlighted.
She also advocated for omega-3 supplementation. Hmmm, I think we have heard that before...!
Anyway, I know it isn't directly related to the Zone, but I found it quite interesting.
