Posted By Sue K on 11/08/2010 10:04 AM Posted By Cranberrycat on 11/08/2010 8:44 AM If newborns are stable with good apgar scores, they usually like to get the baby to breast within the first hour of life. It is quite common around these parts for newborns to be put to breast as soon as possible! Thanks for the info. Unfortunately this was not the case under the circumstances, but I'm happy to say mom and baby are doing well now.
That is good. Again, as long as things are stable, that is usually what they do around here. Perhaps the apgars weren't the best, but if the situation is a stable one, it is very important for bonding between mom and baby! |

That is good! I guess I am not understanding what exactly you are saying here... I was just simply stating that it is quite common to see mom and baby bond in the first hour, as long as the situation is a stable one. Hopefully things were stable enough for that to happen there! |

Sure. Why not. Here's ours, youngest of 4, a Sophomore in college.

Hi Cran, yes, that is the usual procedure at this hopsital too, but this happened to involve a unique set of circumstances. Thanks for your concern. |

Your welcome! Bonding is very important during the 1st hour of life, and I am so happy that the hospital "broke some rules" to allow that to happen. I hope that no one loses their job over it! LOL! As I said before, it is fairly common around here. Have a great day! It is a beauty here! |

Chilly day here in CT, today. We woke up to our first snowfall here overnight, school delays, cancellations and all! |

My son's birthday is on the 15th, coming up. I was going to change my picture to his to honor my "middle" baby, but for some reason I can't get it to change. UGH! Well, anyway, if something magical happens after I log off and back on again, just wanted to be sure that I posted that this is now my son, not my youngest daughter! |

I see he takes after his momma (in that pix) - lol! . P.S. Getting back to the original off-topic topic , I am guessing either no news, Stephen? OR, hopefully, you are so busy with the new birth, it'll be a while before we are able to hear from ya.

Well, perhaps everything except the mustache! LOL! He is going to be 11. He is my techno-wiz kid. I am envisioning him working in the computer networking arena. Likes to study weather, too (at one point wanted to be a tornado chaser).
I am glad that it worked, though. Figured as soon as l logged off, that the change would take effect. |
