    Does anyone have a zone friendly hot chocolate recipe?

    Heat up 1 cup of lowfat milk, then mix in unsweetened cocoa powder (seems to mix better after the milk is heated).  You can drink it as is, or you can add a small amount of stevia or splenda to it, if you want it sweetened.  Personally, I don't miss the sweetness! 

    Makes a 1P/1C snack, and depending on the fat content of the milk, you may meet your fat block, too.  If short on fat, then just eat a few almonds.

    but you don't say how much?
    I know its a matter of taste, but about how much?  1 tsp?  1 TBL? 
    I was never much of Hot Chocolate, but now that I have this, and I can make my own with no sweetener added......

    Thanks, and I'm glad you caught to ask about amounts of powder, John. Normaly hot chocolate is 2 heaping tablespoons of already prepared mix per cup of hot chocolate, at least per directions on the stuff I already have that's loaded with sugar lol. I'll check back for CC's answer.

    Oh, I guess I don't really measure it out. I use just enough to make it chocolately, but not enough to have a glycemic impact. I would generally use about a heaping teaspoon (probably comes out to a tablespoon). My cocoa powder has 3g carb and 1g fiber per tablespoon.

    FYI: 3 tsp = 1 TBL : 1 heaping tsp = ~1.5 tsp = ~.5 TBL.

    3 - 2 = 1 g C
    5 g P

    Whereas an older basic (unsweetened) store brand my daughter purchased quite a while back is the same as yours: 2 g net C for 1 TBL.

    John, I guess it depends on how high one heaps the teaspoon! 

    I figure, as long as I don't use over 1 tbsp, things should be fine.  Generally, I really do it to taste, and a heaping tsp usually does the trick.

    Agree, different brands of cocoa powder may have slightly different breakdowns with regard to carbs and fiber.  It is best to aim for one that has a larger amount of fiber, like yours does.  Mine is a store purchase from a few years ago, actually... I guess I don't use it all that much!
