    Hello there!

I was searching online to find more info about dairy free Zone and sure I found some helpfull articles but wanted also to hear how you are managing it here. I guess it's hard to cut all the dairy from our meals, so I will just keep the eggs in mine. But I worry I will be running out of ideas what other sourse of protein I can use. (I've heard some not good things about protein powders, so definitely will stick to eggs, chicken and fish.)

    How was it for yourself?

    Was it difficult to adjust?

Have you noticed some major benefits from your new cleaner eating?

I will be more than happy to hear about your experience and of course I will keep you posted how is going for me as well!

Have a wonderful day everybody, and thank you in advance, I apreciate every single advice I get here!

Sorry, Christina, I can't help you.  I include dairy in my Zone.

    That's ok dear Cranberrycat,

it's very sweet of you just to let me know that.

I did some research and so far I'm doing fine. Actually I feel more energized and a just for 2 days I see I'm loosing weight (i'm sure it's water) but still - I'm happy, probably the cheese I was eating had too much sodium. I cut the Ezekiel Bread too, and you were so right!!! I don't feel hunger as I used to 2 hrs after my sandwich!

I just want to say to anybody who doubts the effect of favorable vs unfavorable carbs - we think bread is the once that keeps us full and we don't want to give it up - but for me I can say - it was the one that made me hungry!

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!!!

    Hi Christina,

Congrats on getting to the bottom of your hunger.  Sometimes we all need to experience something for ourselves to really have it fall into place.  Fortunately, now there's Zone 1-2-3 bread for those times when you'd  like some bread.

About your dairy questions, I eat very little dairy and it works out fine (I'm referring to milk products, not eggs).  I've been avoiding dairy for about 6 years, based one of my doctor's suggestions, because I'm a hyper-absorber of calcium...long story for another time.  I don't really miss it, and if/when I want some, I'll simply have a little (usually ice cream!  ).  If I use yogurt in my Zone meals, it's a spoonful or two.  As for cheese, I rarely eat it and when I do, it's a little bit of grated parmesan on a Zone pizza, or a small spoonful of grated low fat cheese here and there, etc.   Occasionally I'll also spread a little butter on some Zone bread.  In place of milk, I use a low carbohydrate unsweetened soy milk on Zone cereal and for cooking (look for WestSoy Unsweetened Soy Milk; it comes in 4 flavors; contains 1 gram of insulin stimulating carbohydrate per cup).   It wasn't difficult for me to avoid dairy.  As for benefits, I don't know if you can attribute them to no dairy, or the Zone, but I'm the fittest I've ever been, and my blood labs are outstanding.  My doctor was so surprised by my labs at this year's physical, he asked if another doctor had given me cholesterol med!  My results are all from following the Zone diet and lifestyle.    My recent blood labs reflect my switch to the ZoneFast 1-2-3 plan.  You car read more about them here  /Community/Forums/tabid/121/forumid/8/postid/58048/view/topic/Default.aspx

Hi Christina, I consume very little yogurt, maybe 1 cup at the most for the whole month is what I eat. Milk is completely eliminated from my menu, I simply cannot tolerate it. My protein comes from egg whites, chicken; once a week beef or lean pork; and once every couple of weeks-fish. I eat a log of egg whites and chicken. LOL
