I've been lurking around for a few weeks, taking in all the excellent wisdom to be had in these forums, and am so appreciative that you all are here. I have loosely followed the zone for most of the last 10 years or so, but am getting much more serious, more precise. about recently. So, I have lots of questions.

First one is exactly how much fat should I be taking in? Is there some grand total that includes the fat you get with your proteins?

If I eat mainly egg whites, should I add extra fat, for example? And if so how much?

I am interested in weight loss, so I don't want to overdo it, but I know there is a certain amount I need.

I have been adding 3F to each (3 block) meal, regardless of the fat content (or non-content) of the proteins, fyi.

Also, I have the original Zone book, but don't currently have access to the more recent ones. so I apologize if this is a really basic question.

Any help is appreciated, thanks so much!

It sounds like you utilized the calculator and your "protein prescription" is 11 blocks a day. 1.5F per block except when you have a no fat protein source like egg whites, then it's 3f per block. Check out the Toxic Fat book to stay up to date.

    Thanks, that answers my question.

And gosh, I hope my question wasn't offensive. Like I said, don't have access to the newer books, so not able to get "up to date" with Toxic Fat at this point.

Courtney, this website is a good resource to use in the absence of having a book. The most up to date information should be right here, although the books go more into the "why". But, feel free to ask any question! Most of us are happy to help.
