Well, after years of being way ahead of the curve, the whole Silent Inflammation concept has been slowly catching up to Dr. Sears.  It really came to a point with my wife this past weekend through two events.

1.)  She was kind of in a depressed state over the fact that she had started working out very regularly and except for her 2-hour after dinner evening binges on some days, watching her calories, and was ready to give up because she has gained about 10 pounds over the recent past few weeks.  Though I tried to gently remind her I was concerned about what she was eating from time to time, she was not concerned because, as she put it this weekend -  she was burning more calories than she was eating, and at times, was even proud of how many calories she burned as shown on one of the YMCA's machines.

During her mild crisis, and with that statement, I felt it was time, so I suggested that she read my "Toxic Fat" book.  She never really understood or followed the Zone, as I have, and it took this mild crisis for her to rethink what she was doing and look for a solution.  After reading the book, by last night she commented that she now gets it.

2.)  Then, what brought it home to her, as well, was an article in her most recent Prevention magazine issue that we received on Friday.  In it, there was a short blurb about being skinny and unhealthy and obese and healthy, and about healthy exercisers are not really healthy internally do to something called inflammation - Hmmm - sound familiar?  This, from main stream health, reinforced what she just read in Toxic Fat.

So, I guess this post has two points:  My wife now gets the Zone thanks to Toxic Fat, and main stream is more and more discovering Silent Inflammation, what Dr. Sears wrote about over 10 years ago!

    Hurray!

I see changes happening with the mainstream thinking on this, too.  Many more docs are actually TALKING about Metabolic Syndrome.

The thing I find most interesting about all of this is the fact that no one ever mentions all of the work that Dr. Sears has done reserching how inflammation affects the body! You would think they thought it up all on their own!

There is one place - Venice Nutrition - through whom I will be working to get my Nutrition Certification - that bases their whole philosophy on "Blood Sugar Stabilization" - and attributes their work in part as based on the early work of Dr. Sears.

On a similar note: this month's Prevention (July 2011 - my wife's subscription) has a premier article on LDL. AND, guess what they mention about it? There are predominantly two types. Sound familiar? They even "borrow" Dr. Sears description of the harmless LDL Beach Balls. (They call the denser LDL as daggers, appropriate.)
    .
Of course, I now know, from my research and study as pattern A and Pattern B.
Pattern A the larger, fluffy, "beach ball" type of LDL.
And the pattern B as the smaller dense "BB pellet" type of LDL.
