hi - back on zone after not doing it in 9 years and a little rusty! for the 3 blocks, this is my lunch but didn't feel like it was enough food? salad greens 2 cups/ radishes 1 cup/ cottage cheese 3/4 cup and balsamic vinegar dressing 3 tsp... is this right? The books I have are older - I wish there was an online calculator...

    Hi Lisa,

Your instincts are good.  You're correct that you need more food for that to be a Zone balanced meal.  A couple more blocks of carbohydrate will do it.  Try eating an apple with the meal, or instead, you could adding 1 tomato, chopped and 1 green pepper, chopped, plus eat a block of berries or other favorable fruit for dessert.  If your dressing is fat free, you'll also need to add a dash of monounsaturated fat to the meal.  "Toxic Fat" is an excellent book. It will refresh your memory and help you catch on the new Zone developments of the past 9 yeas.  There’s a lot of good info in the WEIGHT LOSS and TOOLS tabs above.  These links will be especially helpful:

    Hey Lisa ,

There are a number of things that you may experience when you are in the Zone. You may have more energy, better mental focus, or reduced hunger and cravings. You won't get that tired feeling that many experience late in the day. Basically, you should have a feeling of overall well being. If you are not experiencing these things after following the program for a couple of weeks, you are probably not in the Zone.
